IIRC they updated it to the cartoon characters bc they didn't think the gag of having live action actors worked out as well as they thought it would? But the original still aired in some places, I know most streaming services that have or have had gumball had the updated version but Hulu has this version.

2025-06-04 20:22:54 +0000 UTCThe live-action actors are lip-synching to previously recorded lines. This must be an updated version of the original episode because, in the original, the characters the actors are playing were originally regular (or irregular) cartoon characters.

2025-06-04 20:10:21 +0000 UTCI didn't know there was another version of this episode. When I watched this episode on tv, the anchorman was a newspaper character and the sports guy was a puppet. There was no live action actors (except Daisy the donkey scene, that was still the same). Also, the scene that confused you, Christene, the guy on the leash was "Al Paca" who was suppose to be the one at the summit, but instead was sent to Texas to a guy who owns "alpacas". An actual alpaca was sent to the summit and that's why you hear all that grunting noises. Just wanted to clear that up :)
