No doubt the Sith also knew about that ancient Jedi prophecy and thus tried to use it to their advantage. If the so-called 'Chosen One' could've been turned to the Dark Side, it would surely spell utter doom for the Jedi. Of course, they didn't count on one little loophole happening (i.e. Luke and Leia)...
