Victory but at what cost.
The Birth of a new Colossal Titan in the form of Armin.
But the death of the one who could inspire hundreds.
Time marches onwards and through the future will more things be answered, but at the same time more things will be in danger of being lost. Oh the anticipation of what is still to come.

I'd say, barring his lack of experience, I think Armin was the better choice. War does terrible things to people. You could see it on Erwin's face, he was just tired. He couldn't really go on anymore. He seemed well beyond his breaking point, but due to the weight of his position, he couldn't falter. I think passing that on to someone else was a sort of relief in the end.

The way Mikasa and Eren came behind Armin is how we need friends to come behind us

The defeat and death of bertholdt was necessary but DAMN it still isn’t truly satisfying even after all he’s done. They say a persons true character is shown at death, and that’s displayed when bertholdt smiled for a second thinking his friends could save him or rescue him. While there’s no real satisfaction, it’s realistic because there’s no real happiness when taking out an enemy in a war, only when it’s all over. Or at least thats what i think on it.
