Stat Test Preference

As I go about incorporating stat tests into How the Breast Was Won, I wanted to reach out and ask about everyone's preferences.

In an example situation, let's say that you are facing an armed bandit and you have a couple of options. You could attempt to flirt with the bandit and get them to stand down. You could run away. Or you could try to draw and shoot them down.

Your options might looks something like this:

Flirt with the bandit.

Try to get away.

Shoot at the bandit.

Now, each of these would be tied to a character stat. Specifically, this would be seduction, fitness, or marksmanship, respectively. The difficulties would vary depending on the specific situation, with some options being far easier to pull off, but all tests would have a rating from 1-5 to govern how difficult it is.

Stats will be 0-3 at the beginning of the game, with your background letting your bonus stat go up to 4. Tests will consist of a die roll of 1-6 being added to your stat, with the goal of surpassing a "target" number determined by the difficulty of the check. (these are not necessarily the number shown in the examples, due to the way I've set up the math. Those numbers are just a rating from 1-5 to give an idea of the difficulty.)

Here's my question. What is your preference for how these tests would be presented? Would you like the stat involved to be only implied? Stated? What about the difficulty?

I've put a few options below, please pick one that looks the best to you.

Comments

Difficulty of the check in general. Meaning you have a better chance with a high stat.

would the "difficult" bit scale with your stats? ie if I only had a 1 in seduction would it say difficult, but if I had a 5 it would say easy? or is it just "this is a difficult tier skill check"?

Fair point. I'll edit it in above.

Hard to say without knowing stat scaling.
