Setbacks

So... As you might know, I moved recently... So far, so good. While the place is not yet ready completely, I am already living here. So far for the good news...

The bad news: During the move, the USB Flashdrive with 4/5 of the files of chapter 14 of Homelands, as well as chapter 4-6 of Griffin the Griffin was lost. I looked in all the boxes as well as all the pockets of my clothing but the drive is nowhere to be found. (16GB USB stick. Used that as a data exchange between my Raspberry and my Desktop)

As if that was not enough, one of my loyal editors has informed me that one of the chapters of Homelands that was already marked as finished, was apparently put together in the wrong order (Chapter 12 to be exact). I checked it over and he is more than right. Barely any part of it is in the right order and some are actually missing.

I have now restored the edited files on gDrive and hope that I can put it together in the right order this time. However, restoring those files made it quite obvious how this mistake happened....

One of my editors renamed the files in a way that threw off the order, leading to a wrong order when they were all imported to Audacity to be put together... Now I have to fix it and I doubt that it'll be an easy fix, cause looking at the file names, it will be hard to determine which file is actually what.

It might even be easier to simply re-record the whole thing, leaving out the parts that I know where to place. (Like one particularly scary scene, edited in a masterful way by PXProf.)

Let me put it this way: If I re-record 12 and 14, it will be faster than keep looking for the drive or trying to sort out stuff. However, it will also sound slightly off since my recording studio is not set up completely yet.

What do you think I should do? Please comment down below.
