Early Vid: Net Booting an RS/6000 from 1996 with NIM

My PC Server 500 uses ID 6 for the service partition or whatever IBM called the partition with ADFs, But it does boot from other IDs

2025-10-06 21:30:59 +0000 UTCNot sure if this is true of this gear, but older IBM SCSI gear wants the bootable drives to have HIGH numbers, like 6 (as the adapter is usually 7) instead of 0. Probably not important with a single drive but if you set multiple drives on a BlueSCSI it might matter - if you can get the BlueSCSI to work with your IBM adapter. I have not been able to do it in my PS/2s. They work fine with an Adaptec adapter, but not with the IBM. Why did IBM want you to go down from 6 instead of up like most everyone else? Because if you look at that standard, that how it's SUPPOSED to work. Everyone else does it backwards from the original standard.
