Early Vid: IBM POWER6

EDIT: Original upload was missing the last two minutes, latest upload is linked here now (so your original video comments are on the old one).

Taking a look at an IBM POWER6 machine rescued from a dumpster. We'll get this thing powered on and hooked up to an HMC, and also cover the IBM pSeries and iSeries history.

Video goes live Thursday!

Did the new faceplate come in?

Another P series! Brings back the memories. Started out on a P5 and stopped using them when the P9 came out.

haha I knew that was gonna be a bad CPU to pull as an example 😂

Technically, the Pentium III you showed has a P6 microarchitecture, which is the point where Intel started to make the core of their CPUs RISC, and translate to CISC to expose to the software. This was because RISC was getting much faster, and it made sense to build the CPU as RISC under the hood and translate to CISC, instead of building it as CISC directly. So in a way, both of those CPUs are actually RISC CPUs 😅. If you had shown a Pentium II, there would have been no discussion.
