Patreon Vid: Troubleshooting a Cisco Cache Engine

Taking a look at Cisco CE-505 I've never been able to get booting properly. Let me know if you have any ideas!

Yeeeeaah I saw that :(. I've heard from other folks there may be a way to set its device type manually and there is supposedly some sort of "recovery CD" with some recovery bins on it or something, should hopefully have my hands on that soon.

I'm assuming you already saw this because it was the first result on Google, but your device might be toast. Seems like the rom can't be replaced, unless that was Cisco saying that so you'd RMA it, or buy a new one. https://community.cisco.com/t5/application-networking/ce505-boot-problem-help-needed-asap/td-p/592538 Weird how it gets so far into the process, but won't network. I agree with the others on the youtube comments about Wiresharking it.

Both great ideas, I'll be trying those and following up!

Hi Clab That's an interesting device. I have two suggestions: 1.) try actually setting up a user on Filezilla and specifying it in the ftp settings. 2.) Try running Wireshark on the FTP server and looking for ARP broadcasts when the cache claims it's attempting a connection. If you see the ARP traffic you can also try to ping the cache. But the ARP traffic would be the strongest indication that it's trying to use the configured IP address.
