Patreon Vid: Talking with my Dad about his TRS-80 Model III

My Dad bought this TRS-80 Model III back in the 1980s and we finally had a reason to get this over to my house. This is mostly an interview portion of what will eventually be a full video on this TRS-80 (the full video will include much more detail, a hopefully-quick capacitor repair job, and actually trying the machine out.)

I figured it's worth posting this now since I have the footage and I'm not sure when the full video will come about.

I liked those questions ahead of time as well, I'll make sure to plan that better the next time he make an appearance! This was a pretty quick visit, he's moving states and we had a random chance for him to get this thing over to me last weekend haha

Really enjoyed this interview! Hearing about how he used it to actually get real work done is so interesting. I think that the "real human work" perspective of computing is sometimes is lost in modern reviews so I really appreciate hearing about how he used it for his coding projects and writing term papers. I remember the occasional frustration with my computer during my school years, but my experiences pale in comparison to your dad losing 20 pages of writing due to a power outage. We probably all have a story of when we learned to save our progress! I think you alluded that this was a quickly put together interview, but I really like when you asked Patreon for questions to ask. The best part is when they stir an old memory or story up from the depths. Thanks again to you and your dad for the great content!

Amazing seeing your dad talk about stuff again. Really reminds me of my own father. Still has his college-purchased apple 2c in the basement :)
