Chapter 7 - The Hunt for Primitive Beasts Begins
Added 2024-05-06 11:46:32 +0000 UTCWearing an expensive-looking outfit, Han Sen said goodbye to his mother and sister to go to the God’s Sanctuary. Still on the maglev train, he was listening to music and thinking about what today's hunt would be like.
On the previous night, he gathered all the knowledge he had acquired through conversations and acquaintances, and made an almost complete map of the area around the Steel Armor Shelter, marking all suitable locations. From what he could understand, the power gap between different tiers of beasts was more than just strength. Strategies, behaviors, special abilities, and many other things factor into the deadly nature that beasts represent.
That's why he had to be careful, facing the weakest creature first to see if he had a chance against stronger ones. Given the infinite size of God's Sanctuary, it was more than obvious that there were many different species, and the way to deal with them was therefore different. He didn't want to be careless and waste time being treated at a hospital.
Upon passing through the teleportation portal, he found himself back in the room and left it, walking towards the north exit of the Shelter. Walking a little further, he saw a creature that looked like a mix between a steroid-filled dog and an alligator in the middle of the lawn. It was strange, to say the least. But it wasn't like all of this was natural.
The creature in front of him was a Copper Tooth, very famous for being one of the weakest primitive beasts, but it has already killed many newcomers who thought they were capable. As said, someone can use the same strategy and end up leading themselves to death at any time.
Taking his daggers, which looked sharp and deadly, Han Sen also equipped the black armor and waited for the beast to come to him. He was lucky that this was a more territorial beast, so there was no risk of more coming here or ambushing him.
"Let's go, little dog." Han Sen was calm, observing every small movement of Copper Tooth's muscles. His heart was not racing, and everything seemed peaceful as if he wasn't even facing a battle whose outcome he didn't know.
Woosh!
Suddenly, the beast began to run towards him, its jaws that seemed to be made of copper filled with saliva, as if waiting for the entrance of delicious meat. With powerful muscles, the beast jumped on top of Han Sen in an instant as it got close.
"Fast, but dumb..." Despite his eyes not fully keeping up with the movement, anticipation was a great tool on the battlefield. With skill, he dodged the dog's jump, moving to its left side. With two daggers in hand, Han Sen used the Ant Dagger to cut the side of the Copper Tooth’s belly, creating a bloody line from side to side.
Roar!
With a sound that seemed like a mix of barking and growling, the Copper Tooth skidded over the grass, trying to ignore the pain of the cut. Taking advantage of the fact that it was close to the prey, it quickly ran again, threatening to tear off Han Sen's leg.
As the dog approached once again, he started running towards it without fear of being run over. Just as they were about to meet, Han Sen quickly dodged to the side, causing the Copper Tooth beast to bite the wrong way. Acting swiftly, he used the Scorpion Dagger to stab the other side of the beast's belly, cutting through it completely this time.

Breathing calmly, Han Sen evaluated his own fight and nodded, satisfied. There were few points that he could have improved if not for relying on an increase in strength.
"The Martial Arts and Short Blade Skill Level greatly influence my combat power. I haven't even used my new secret weapon yet." Han Sen materialized a small knife, which was the Primitive Sharp-Tailed Otter Beast Soul. It was at the same level as his daggers, so it could certainly cause damage.

"And there's the difference, huh..." Han Sen looked at the EXP points he had gained, which had increased because the creature's tier had also increased. He didn't know what was more worthwhile, quickly killing several ordinary beasts or slowly killing primitive ones. For EXP reasons, he would have to measure the speed at which he kills and correlate it with the amount of effort that task rewards. But, if purely in terms of gains, killing primitive beasts was a thousand times better now. In addition to the more expensive Beast Souls, he also needed primitive gene points.
After that, Han Sen began to hunt for more Copper Tooth, which tended to stay in the same region. That's why it was called a hunting ground. He postponed checking the new Beast Soul and wanted to eat more meat at once. Thanks to using the [Devourer Sutra] every day and eating large amounts of meat, his eating capacity had increased significantly. The effects of Ordinary Gene Points also helped a lot with this.

"And you are the last one for today!" With the rising sun in the background, Han Sen decapitated the last Copper Tooth he could see. With this one, he had already faced and killed about 25. It was enough meat for him to eat for a while. Only then could he focus on the unrestrained hunt.
Taking this last corpse to a pile of others, he quickly worked with his knife and soon all the useful meat had been separated from the useless. Short Blade and Cooking Skills made him the best corpse desiccator in nature.
Walking up to a cloth that was open on the ground, he threw the pieces of meat he would eat and wrapped everything up. Inside the now bag there was the meat of the other 24 monsters, and it weighed around 70Kg~80Kg. As he said, he had enough for a while.
The cloth that Han Sen used to fold and carry the meat was the result of a technology that emerged shortly after humanity discovered the Sanctuaries. Since no tech-based itens worked, humans had to literally go back to the Stone Age to discover ways to explore things more safely. This cloth was completely made of natural fibers that helped capture the blood of the meat, maintain the appropriate interior temperature, and best of all, it was completely odorless. There was no risk of being attacked by beasts that were attracted by blood.
As soon as he arrived at Shelter, he walked through the crowd carrying the giant bag, attracting attention wherever he went. Other people looked at him and wondered what it was. But, as it wasn't his problem, Han Sen ignored everyone and went straight to his room.
Lighting the fire, he took out the pots and spices he had and began cooking his meat meal. The smell of his kitchen was fascinating and he even lit two fires to cook faster. Roasting almost 10kg of meat at once, he ate it while it was still hot.

As he ate, he gained more and more primitive gene points, and his body grew stronger. When he ate 5kg of meat, gaining a total of 10 gene points, he activated the [Devourer Sutra] and the metabolism acceleration process began.

"Aah!" Han Sen shouted as he cleaved a Red Rib Tiger in half using a spear, the tiger's blood splattering onto him. Another tiger was coming his way, so he quickly wiped his eyes and dodged, jumping to the side.
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Throwing two small daggers powerfully, the neck of the last tiger was pierced and blood began to flow onto the ground. Along with its death, two notifications appeared at the same time for Han Sen.

"This spear is really good, huh..." Han Sen stretched a bit after killing the two tigers. He looked at the spear in his hand and praised it. Although it came from a weaker species of primitive beast, it still did a good job.
Taking the meat from the two tigers, he ate everything and gained 10 more gene points. It has been a week since he started hunting primitive beasts and he had already raised his total points to a pleasing value.

"Hunting for meat is becoming less and less worthwhile. It seems like I'll have to start buying beast meat at the market." Seeing that he couldn't keep entering different hunting fields in search of gene points, his goal changed and he would start spending money on it. Especially with the amount of Beast Souls he had to sell, it was impossible for him not to have the means now.
After eating, he started heading towards Shelter, just wanting to go home and rest. Today was the last day he would stay at the Sanctuary of God and spend the weekend at home.
On the way there, thinking about how he could buy primitive meat more efficiently, his vision was drawn to a woman who was in a fancy establishment in Shelter, drinking tea on the balcony of the first floor.
Without any extra communication, the two pairs of eyes met and recognized each other. Qin Xuan, from above, saw how much Han Sen had changed and how much more powerful he was just by looking at him. Her interest was piqued, and she beckoned him with her fingers.
"Well, I think I know how I'm going to buy these meats faster.”
