"Make Room for Cosby" could have been the name of the show

A.W.

No! I'll have to dig them up

A.W.

Love this definitely more please. You could even add a few before they were famous ads, like all the Steve Carell ones. Here in the UK there was a Simon Pegg ad that I always liked https://youtu.be/j-qGHvk4-Ew?si=fjpXfsyxtoEPZH-X&utm_source=MTQxZ

Have you seen those commercials Jason Alexander does now where he plays all the characters? Very similar to that Michael Richards one you showed.

NBC was planning to get back into the Bill Cosby business mere weeks before the allegations surfaced. They even cancelled "The Michael J. Fox Show" which was a moderately popular sitcom that only ultimately ran one season, to make room for Cosby. Whoops!

That Tet Offensive comment really got me well done Ryan, instantly made me think of that Simpsons joke about Krusty in the 1960's

Steven Trotter

Not a ad but rather a Blooper of a ad, the Sam Jackson 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix ad and as the son of a former owner of a 2004 GTP, it's accurate https://youtu.be/E61LFGk3fP8

Found the Jackie Gleason ad you were looking for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TjkNUybBXY&ab_channel=sterlingsubs

Holy shit, and Ryan is the loveable asshole.

At 44:40, Orson looks at me like a financially unwise but momentarily satisfactory purchase.

I just realized that with Joe's savant-like knowledge of all things show biz, he reminds me of a young Frank Santopadre, who was the all-knowing co-host of Gilbert Gottfried's ACP.

Good stuff! If you do a Vol. 2 of this series go check out the George Kennedy for Breath Asure ads.

I had that Dark Tower game and it was absolutely incredible for the time. It was my favorite board game growing up and I actually still have the tower sitting on my at home work desk. It took four count em four D batteries, featured a column in the center that would spin and light up panels at the appropriate time, and an internal memory that would keep track of your progress. From what I remember, it was mostly indirectly competitive with each player taking turns gathering an inventory until they had what they needed to attempt to enter the tower. There was a single player mode so Orson could indeed have conquered the tower by himself. I had no idea a commercial for it ever existed, let alone starring Orson Welles, and was overjoyed to have discovered it on YouTube later on in life. It never dawned on me until then how ironic it is that a highly ambitious board game what's defining feature was a central computer guiding the players was set in medieval fantasy.
