Early Access: Sidetracks - Silent Movies

Hey everyone! Here's early access to our new sidetracks. Following our discussion on Silent Movie (1976), we wanted to profile some more acclaimed silent movies, including Harold Lloyd's Safety Last (1923), Buster Keaton's The General (1926), Charlie Chaplin's City Lights (1931), and lastly The Artist (2011). We also surprisingly have a lot to say about Orson Welles via our mediocre impressions. Enjoy!

Comments

I’d really love some more book talk! The Orson Welles book was great ( read it when joe initially mentioned it) and I’d love to hear more comments on reviews maybe. Like I just read Pauline Kaels review on Blow-Up in the Age of Movies and immediately wondered how Ryan would respond to it. so that’s what made me think about it! I really enjoy you two and listen to all your podcasts repeatedly, can’t wait for more!

Okay here's a dumb question, but isn't Shaun the Sleep a silent film?

Know you that whole rant you two did for The General reminds me of this thought I had, "Most soldiers, definitely the ones who were drafted, probably really hate the country they're fighting for."
