Early Access: Sidetracks - Comedy Westerns

Hey Patrons! Here's early access to another episode. This time we sat down to talk about some of our favorite (and not so favorite) Comedy Western movies, including; The Kid Brother, Go West, My Little Chickadee, They Call Me Trinity/Trinity Is Still My Name, My Name Is Nobody, The Paleface, Cat Ballou, Support Your Local Sheriff, The Frisco Kid, Blazing Saddles, City Slickers, Three Amigos, and more!

This episode will eventually go out on our main feed but we wanted to post it here first, so forgive the (as Ryan calls it) lengthy preamble that sets this episode up.

We've still out another Patreon-exclusive episode in the works on the films of Sergio Leone, so stay tuned for that! We definitely love doing these random discussions and plan to do  more of them.

Thanks for the support!

I'm glad to hear you guys are thinking of talking about Canadian Bacon. I love that movie. One Comedy Western I had just thought of that I love is Charlie Chaplin's The Gold Rush. I remember as a kid being introduced to silent movies at the Manitoba Museum. They have a section of the museum that is set up like a 1920's city with a small recreation of a theatre that would show various silent comedy shorts, including Buster Keaton's The Scarecrow. Later, I found The Gold Rush on VHS at a nearby library and rented it. Even though I was a kid, and it is a silent movie, I still really enjoyed it. I haven't checked out the sound version that is on the Criterion Blu-ray, but I'd probably recommend it for anyone who doesn't care to watch silent movies because they have to read. It's such a good movie. Also, I liked The Artist. Great movie.

Glad to hear more love for Maverick and James Garner. Ryan should definitely seek out the original series, I think he'd enjoy it.
