April Updates

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so long in between updates/shows. We each got unexpectedly busy with other projects this month, but we are planning to record next week. We're going to finally do our episode on "A Million Ways to Die in the West" which will probably end up being more a discussion on the proper way to do a Comedy Western. We've taken a look at a ton of Westerns, a lot of comedic ones, and have a lot to say on the genre. We're going to be talking about the more comedic Spaghetti Westerns featuring Bud Spencer & Terence Hill, as well as a Bob Hope comedy called 'The Paleface', as well as some silent Westerns featuring Buster Keaton & Harold Lloyd. Naturally, we will also touch on 'Blazing Saddles'. Ryan's watched a ton of Leone stuff and John Wayne films too.

Speaking of, longtime listeners will know we had been planning to do a Mel Brooks-centric episode on 'Life Stinks'. After reading his recent memoir, which I recommend all movie fans check out, we have decided to break up his career into two episodes. The first will be on his early career, covering everything up to our headline on 'Silent Movie' and a later episode will explore everything up to 'Life Stinks'. The first will probably come after our episode on Westerns and the second later this year.

If you have any recommendations for us to check out as they pertain to those topics, please let us know. Feel free to leave any random questions or comments as well. We'd love to address more of your thoughts at the start of every Patreon episode.

Thank you so much for your patience as we worked out some scheduling issues! We can't wait to be back soon.

Thanks for your support!

- Joe

One of my favorite things about this podcast is that not only do you guys like a lot of the movies I like, you also dislike and give your reasons for a movie not working or being downright awful. Yeah there’s a lot of negativity out there already to be sure- but your show also generally includes what should have been done to fix the movie, which is super rare and adds a dimension I don’t find in many podcasts or film criticism.

I would be curious to hear your thoughts on dracula dead and loving it. Also the shootist with John Wayne, his last film and a nice closer to his career. On the same note cry Macho as well since it might be clint Eastwoods last film
