Next Machine Progress Pics!
Added 2021-09-19 04:45:01 +0000 UTCHello! Wanted to share progress on the new machine, The Juicer.
I have a series of images here that will illustrate my general process for putting these things together.

Basic blockout! I put the character in the main pose first, and then develop the machine around that (this helps ensure the character will fit while avoiding intersections). I use simple cubes to block out the basic shape of the various devices, again, to ensure that everything fits together, as well as letting me mess around with the design before committing to detail.

After I've settled on the general form, function, and layout, I start piecing in the design. You can see panels, screws, doors, etc, begin to appear.

Testing out the straps! Our gal won't be strapped in tight for the entire animation (need to see some wiggling, ya' know?). But at some point, the machine will detect too much movement, and tightly confine her. Safety first. 😉

Suction devices are added, using an IK rig for the main arm, and a hooked spline for the "milk tube." 🥛

I start going wild with screws, panels, tubes, all that stuff. I try and add lots of little detail, while also avoiding "messiness." To do this, I make sure there are a few "areas of focus" that draw the eye (the circular design around Ada's head, for example).

At this point, we're done with the modeling! The design is locked in (as is Ada).
I'll be doing the unwrapping and texturing next, and should have the VA files delivered any day now. I'll get those in and get this girl animated, posting some previews along the way.
I'm excited about this one! Looking forward to sharing more and getting it out there.

Talk soon!

2021-09-20 15:14:14 +0000 UTCThis is looking so good already. I have some concerns about the head/facial restraints, but I'm not about to tell an artist how to do his job. I suspect this is going to end up as one of my favorites!!
