My Werewolf System Chapter 314

Due to how the current world functioned, it was rare for people to live outside the cities. The cities were, after all, the only place where one could get work, including the practically rubbish dumps that the tier five cities were.

They were essentially just people who lived on scraps of the other cities—creating houses in a rubbish dump and getting whatever the other cities didn't even want. These cities were why the AFC academy, or also known as the AFA was a unique place.

It was a school that was a prominent gathering place of Altereds from every city in the country, and it was the only place of its kind in the current region. Of course, there were academies abroad that trained special Altered, but this Academy was more unique since it was a part of the AFC.

It allowed easy access to sponsors and the worldwide televised sport and was considered the best place for an Altered's future, even if one didn't want to get in fighting. Often, reporters would head to the Academy to film TV shows about upcoming contenders.

The Academy itself wasn't located near the other cities; rather, it was out in the countryside. It was a large building that was home to around two thousand different Altered. Although it seemed like a large amount, it was minuscule compared to the world's current population.

Despite where it was though, the Academy had great wealth due to the students that attended it. This place was meant to be an independently run facility, away from the Tier One cities; whether people believed that or not, was another thing.

Currently, five new students were standing inside what looked like an empty white room. Each of them was wearing a plain white uniform, and standing in front of them were three older gentlemen. They, too, were wearing white uniforms similar to the students, although the styling was a little different.

"Every year, facilities around the whole world succeed in making breakthrough after breakthrough." A man in the centre, with giant round glasses and a tall body, began to speak while pacing back and forth in front of the students.

"Which means that Altered DNA is starting to become more...common among the folk."

Although what the Professor of the Academy was saying was true, 'common' was a horrible word for him to use. Since it was only becoming more common among the upper class, and even then, less than one percent of people could get their hands on the Altered DNA.

"In the future, we can see that things will continue this way, and maybe one day, everyone in the world will become an Altered. However, there is one thing that we don't wish to change: the AFA is an elite place for Altereds to train.

"It won't just be a place for which any Altered can come in and join. No, they will have to prove themselves, and this includes all of you as well."

Looking at the five students, they all stood up straight and tall, strong and confident, and out of all the students, Xin Clove was there as well. It was her first day at the Altered Academy, and from the Professor's words, she understood that if she didn't show what she could do, then she might get kicked out on the first day,

'That's not happening; I'm not going back. Jayden went through all of this, so I should at least be able to go through all of this as well.'

The man stepped back, allowing a bulky professor to step forward. He looked a little strange because although his belly was large and round, his arms looked muscular, with next to no fat visible on them at all.

"The five of you will go through a trial. This will determine your positions in the next room." The man stated. "There are only two rules. Don't get hit, and you are not allowed to change into your altered form."

"What!" A spike blonde head boy shouted; his hair seemed to be moving about with his anger. "Some of us might have really rare Altered forms or are better at utilising it than others. If you test us without letting us go all out, how is that fair?"

"Research." The original professor with the glasses spoke. "We have done extensive research. If you genuinely have a strong beast in your body, then it means your body would have changed to the point that you are no longer human, even in your human form.

"If that isn't the case, then it simply means that the beast inside you is weak. Anyway, just because you fail at this academy doesn't mean that you won't be able to go to others, but these are the rules at the AFA, and it is how we have been able to produce the best of the best for a long time."

Hearing this, Xin was confident because she was pretty skillful before becoming an Altered. However, there was a problem. This uptick in energy that the man talked about, she had never felt it. After taking the injection that day, the NIRV employee stated that everything had gone perfectly fine, yet she struggled to keep up her Altered form. So she was thankful for this test.

'I'm still worried; we shouldn't have trusted that guy, telling us that it was a new way to become an Altered. What if something went wrong?' Xin thought. However, she had passed the Altered test they had to partake in before even getting to this stage, which meant she was no longer human.

The professors soon left the room through the exit, but several cameras would show the group's progress.

"Well, what do we do now?" A tired-looking kid asked. He had large black eyes that reminded one of a panda.

Just then, they heard a clicking sound, and in the next instant, a large black ball came out from the side of the wall and struck one of the students. The ball wasn't heavy; it didn't hurt at all, but as the student tried to pull it off from himself, the sticky substance just went onto his hand instead,

He then used his foot, but it still stuck it onto his body.

"Rick Toenail, you have been eliminated."

"That was your name?" The spiky-haired kid from before couldn't help but laugh hearing the announcement. The next second though, the one with the panda eyes had jumped from his position and had nearly cleared two metres quickly.

A large black ball went straight past him, and it looked like it was aiming for the others as well. Noticing the ball, Xin moved, and the spikey blonde kid moved in the opposite direction.

Now, these strange black balls were being blasted from all over the room. They were not just coming from the walls on the side but from above and below as well. All of the students tried their best to avoid everything, including each other, coming towards them.

The professors were watching everything through the screen. It had been a minute since the test began, and they were getting a clear grasp on the students' plus points.

"Looks like we have a couple of good ones with us." One of the professors smiled.

"Yes, the Panda boy has the best reflexes out of the lot. It looks like he is using next to no effort to dodge everything that is coming his way. As for Ryan, although his attitude is quite bad, he perhaps has the best physical capabilities. He can outrun and see all of the objects coming towards them."

"What about the other two?" Another professor asked.

"The other two, they are disappointing. I doubt they will make it to the end."

Xin was trying her best to avoid all of the black balls. She was imagining them as fists and kicks hurling towards her, and her focus was at a max. She needed to see the balls as soon as possible to give her the most time to react, but it was proving a great struggle with the number of black balls coming towards her.

The problem was, as the test continued and went on, she was getting tired, and she was sure of it that the black balls were being shot towards them even faster than before.

'The other two, they are still able to react to it. It was as if the first few minutes were just a warm-up for them.' Xin noticed and glanced at the student close to her, a tall, lanky boy. 'If this goes on, the two of us are going to pass this test.

It was at that moment that three black balls came towards her. With the trajectory of the other balls, she knew that she wasn't fast enough to avoid them. There were only a few ways to get out of the current situation.

One of them was being hit by the balls in front of her, so the ones at the side wouldn't hit her, but that's when she came up with another plan, as she saw a weakened boy by her side. Lifting up her leg, she kicked the other player right in the head, and it was a perfect blow to the temple, knocking him out.

As he was falling to the floor, she grabbed his body, placed it in front of her, and started running forward, allowing the black balls to touch the fallen player by her side. Eventually letting go, she was ready to dodge more, but the balls had stopped.

The test was over. However, her actions didn't go unnoticed by the others in the room and the Professors outside.

"Don't let the black balls touch you...no matter what, right?" Xin said, huffing and panting. No matter what, she was going to get through this.
