ArTorr Monthly | September 2025

Welcome back to ArTorr Monthly-- coming to you just a bit delayed, due to the holiday weekend! Here's the scoop on what I worked on last month and what you should look out for in the month(s) ahead!

Coming Together in the Edit

After a bumpy start this month on video editing (which I talked about in-detail during a ParkesTorr about two weeks ago), I hit a much-needed stride on the edit for the Andor video. I'm still moving through the audio pass, but I anticipate I'll have that wrapped up by the end of next week, and going full-bore on the video pass by the middle of the month. Essentially, that means there's virtually no chance the video will be ready this month, and will instead be ready sometime in October or November. The first preview of the video will be out for Tier 3 Patrons later this month.

After today, here's what the premiere timeline currently looks like--

Everything up to the playhead (voiceover, music, interstital clips, and some sound FX) has been cut and positioned how it will play in the final video. Everything you see on Track 1 after that (essentially my voiceover) is what I still have to go through to finish the audio pass. As was the case for all the voiceover up to the playhead, that means positioning the narration, bringing in music, cutting and mixing that music against the narration, bringing in interstitial clips where necessary, mixing the audio on those clips and/or removing music from them, adding sound FX where necessary or convenient (I always end up adding way more FX on the final pass of the edit anyway) and building a few of the more complicated sequences I wrote in the script for the first time in the edit. On some of my videos, the audio pass took more time than the video pass, and I think that will likely be the case for this video.

As you may also glean from that image, the video is indeed long. No exact length yet, but I can confidently say it's going to land somewhere between 90 minutes and two hours, just based on how far into the script I am. As always, I'm so grateful for your patience and support, and hope you understand how hard I've been working on this, despite how long the process has been (no one remind me I've been working on this since April). Everything I'm seeing right now in the audio pass is extremely exciting, and makes me optimistic this will be one of the best Andor videos on the internet when it's completed. Stay tuned!

Samurai-Like Progress on Ghost of Tsushima

Due to the current demands of the Andor video, and just trying to hit the much stricter self-imposed deadlines I have for that project versus this one, I made very little progress on the Ghost video in August. I've been fleshing out the outline here and there, and doing a bit of research on samurai, Japanese folklore and the history of Japan, but that's pretty much it. I'm gonna try and light the fire under my ass just a little more later this month, probably after I move into the video pass on Andor, and make serious progress on the script. I don't say that because I don't believe I already have enough on my plate-- all I really need is to set aside an hour each day to push the script forward in a meaningful way. Consistency will be my ally here... which I imagine is something Lord Shimura would tell Jin.

To reiterate, this won't be anywhere close to the length of the Andor video-- I'm aiming for the 45 minute mark, or somewhere around that. Not the most exciting update here, I know, but the Ghost video will have it's time in the sun eventually.

That's All Folks!

That concludes ArTorr Monthly for September 2025. I appreciate y'all supporting the channel through what was a busy summer for me personally and at my day job. Your support means the world to me, especially as I look ahead at the work waiting for me this month. I feel optimistic about the progress I'll make on these two projects, and am eager to see what sort of creative discoveries I'll make along the way that spur me even farther. I couldn't do this without you guys, so as always: I hope you have an amazing month, and receive every blessing you deserve. Peace out!
