ArTorr Monthly | July 2025

Welcome back to ArTorr Monthly! Here's the scoop on what I worked on last month and what you should look out for in the month(s) ahead. Since we are halfway through 2025, we're also going to check-in on the video roadmap that I revealed back in January, and see where we're at with it!

The Bad News

June was a disastrous month for progress on videos, and for multiple reasons. It pains me to tell you that, but because it is important to me that you know exactly where your support is going, I think it is also important to tell you when circumstances prevent your support from making the impact that it should.

A lot of why things went awry comes down to me not taking care of myself. I've talked a little bit about this on ParkesTorr, but I caught a nasty cold at the start of the month that eventually turned into a sinus infection, and I didn't go to the doctor until well after I should've. Combined with a physically-demanding day job, I came home everyday just completely exhausted and wracked with brain fog, when I normally get a lot of my video work done in the evening. That would carry over into my days off, and you get the idea. That doesn't mean I got nothing done, but I'm very dissatisfied with how little progress I made in June because of it. I'm still finalizing the Andor script, and still outlining and researching for the Ghost of Tsushima video.

I didn't choose to get sick, but I did choose not to take it seriously. Knowing how many of you are counting to me to make these videos happen, I must say I'm sorry. If this affects your support, I completely understand and pass no judgement; you are entitled to spend your money how you choose. But now that I'm much healthier, I will be working hard this month to make-up for the lost time.

The Good News

There's not much of it, but I didn't want to leave you with the idea that June was a complete waste. I picked up a 5070 TI graphics card this past month, which is going to make a drastic improvement on the video editing process, working with 4K video, and recording gameplay at higher quality. For this reason, I'm planning to release the Andor video in 4K. That could change depending on complications, but I think I now have the hardware to render it and support it.

While at my day job, where I usually listen to podcasts and audiobooks related to videos I'm working on, I went down a couple new and unexpected rabbit holes that will make their way into the Andor and Ghost videos that previously wouldn't have; topics of research that weren't previously going to be included in the videos. I'll have to reveal those in the future after the videos are done.

Checking-in on the Roadmap

Here's the roadmap I announced back in January. I imagine some of you who joined after the Rogue One video are seeing this now for the first time. To be clear, when I announced this, I specified that is a list of the videos that I will be working on in 2025, not necessarily releasing. In other words, it's all the projects your support is going directly towards in 2025.

We released Remember The Clone Wars in January, and The Myth That Rogue One Shattered in March. I'm currently working on The Thousand Faces of Cassian Andor and The Ghost of Tsushima videos. If you asked me when I expect to have them out, I would predict (but can't promise) that Andor will come out in September, and Ghost in October. It'll be a month later than when I wanted both of those projects out, but we are unfortunately a month behind because of June.

From there, my next set of projects will be Cyberpunk 2077 Part 2 and Netflix's Daredevil. I don't foresee getting both videos out before year's end, but I may be able to release at least one of them in December, probably the Daredevil video, but I'm not yet sure.

It's safe to say throwing Indiana Jones & The Great Circle and Dune Part 1 & 2 on the roadmap were a tad ambitious. I just don't see myself getting to either project by year's end with my current resources. Rest assured, they will carry over into next year and be a part of the 2026 roadmap.

It's too early to announce what else will be on the roadmap (I got 6 videos to get through first!!) but there are a couple things you can anticipate. I will of course be talking about Andor Season 2 next year, and possibly Ghost of Yotei depending on the success of the Tsushima video and if Yotei is worth doing a video for. I will of course be asking you for other video suggestions when that time comes, but until then, I want to preface the following--

We're making some serious videos this year on some very serious, dark subject matter. We're exploring the mechanics of fascism in the Andor video. We're continuing the discussion from the first Cyberpunk video on the exploitation of capitalism in the second Cyberpunk video. The video on Daredevil is going to examine how a pursuit of justice can be warped by trauma and depression, on both a personal and societal level. Usually it's not a problem for me, but given the state of the world and my country recently, spending several hours everyday with some of this subject matter is having a negative impact on my mental health. Not a massive impact, overall I am fine, but in the spirit of making the videos that I would want to watch-- a philosophy that has guided me from the start of ArTorr-- I want to do some far less serious videos next year. Take on projects that will be fun and escapist, because I do think that is something we all need as well. I might change my mind by next year, but right now I see a lot of value in doing that. So that will absolutely play into what suggestions I consider.

That's All Folks!

That concludes ArTorr Monthly for July 2025. Here's hoping this month goes better than June. Though we're only a week into it, I have every reason to believe it will be. Have a great July and don't stare at the sun. Not that you were going to, but it's a good reminder hopefully. I'll see you again soon!

Comments

Having completed Ghost of Tsushima a month ago, I must say that I found it to be a truly delightful experience and one of PlayStation's finest exclusives. Would you be planning to include the Iki Island expansion in the video project, as I believe it significantly enhances the emotional depth of Jin's narrative?

I really appreciate that. Thank you :)

I think everyone understands this is not your main source of income. As long as you're putting honest efforts in when you can, I'll be here to support you.
