The lighting is FAB!

Gosh I love this episode. Some Hand backstory, understanding the connections between Stick, the Chaste, The Hand and K'un-Lun. I honestly think this is the first show I've seen where I notice the *lighting* so much. The Royal Dragon just has this amazing vibe to it, green light (Danny) over the main table, yellow (Luke) over the rest of the floor, blue (Jessica) at the bar, and red (Matt) at the window. Just so much harsh lighting that I love.

I'm glad you're enjoying it and I think a large part of the complaints people had were because people didn't generally like Iron Fist, but your love of Finn Jones helped that a lot. Also, when people get a dislike in their heads, a lot of times, they write those characters off, no matter what they do subsequently. That 1st season of Iron Fist was rushed in production and they neither fleshed out a story for 13 episodes nor took the time to train/choreograph the fight scenes like they did with Daredevil. I think they did, like, 6 months of training for Charlie Cox on the first season of Daredevil and only about 6 weeks for Finn Jones and were actually still coming up with choreographed fight scenes while they were filming. The fights tended to look slow and unimpressive (when he's supposed to be in the top 2 fighters of Marvel, with Shang-Chi. Finn was very excited to play the character (still is) and would've loved to take the time with it. They also had gotten a director that was known for getting things done fast and cheap. (he did the "Inhumans" TV show. Oof. Wouldn't recommend that unless the curiosity is just too overwhelming 'cause I think everyone comes out the lesser for it. Not the characters nor actors' fault at all, just dialogue, story and direction) I already told you that S1 of Iron Fist is my least favorite of the NF Marvel shows, but I liked S2 a lot, but there were still a lot of people that just kept insisting that "Iron Fist SUCKS!" without much explanation after that. Maybe they want to stay strong on their opinions or something. I guess they're not a fan of nuance. I don't know, but the only thing I remember people really criticizing about The Defenders was Danny. To be fair, I still wasn't a fan of Danny's hotheadedness and lack of center here, but it was a bit lesser than on his show. I felt that they used it as a plot contrivance to make him do things he shouldn't, to create conflict. Made him come across as not smart. They definitely worked on that after this show. Even with the criticisms I had, I always thought the hate for his show, over all, and this show was WAY overblown. Some people love to bitch about stuff. I think it makes them feel...discerning?
