morning sketching

every day that I have work, I try to get up extra early to do some art because my job pisses me off and I say "no! I'm doing what I want first!"

anyways here's an elesa I tried to sketch out but wasn't feeling 100% on the pose yet. so I figured 'go draw from reference then' and then I tried doing a quick photostudy. I forgot how tricky it is! there's so many subtle coloring and shading tones that my eye ain't trained to perceive yet (e.g. the subtle redder tones going toward the hands), but at the same time lies the question objective of how realistic is one trying to meet the reference versus what are you trying to capture within your actual drawing style. this reference photo does kinda fit elesa though, so maybe I might try doing some proper art of her in the future.
