Today I want to tell you a bit about a current (paid) collaboration and what's happening behind the scenes. 🤪
The video linked is the final and approved version of a "integrated advertisement" which will be seen in one of my future videos.
Full story:
I was contacted by an agency to promote a IPL hair removal device.
Most of the collab inquiries in my inbox I directly decline, because I don't want to spam my channel with nonsense ads, even if they're paid.
in this case the product seemed to be valuable (checked some authentic reviews) and hair removal as a topic is actually at least partially related to my video topics (=>Bikini-zone). The budget was also ok, so I said yes.
Since I didn't want to do a whole video on this topic, we came to agree on an integrated ad. Meaning a 1 minute ad integration in one of my normal videos. So far so good. I had the plan to do a swimwear video for some coherent connection to the ad.
The agency then send me the item itself and some key talking points, facts they want to see and hear displayd in the ad. I made them a presentation about the structure of the ad and what I planned to do in general. This went back and forth a few times, the agency being very specific in a few ways, for example what kind of outfit I was supposed to wear. Used the device a few times. (To be honest not often / long enough for a good before-and-after-comparision but on the other hand I was asked to do the ad asap.) Recorded the ad. Recorded the swimwear video. Edited the video and ad and sent the ad to the agency for approval.
After consulting their customer, the agency had a few things they wanted to see changed. I had to re-record a sentence and alter the edit a bit. Honestly, it was all very specific and since it was only 1 minute there was not much room for "unneccessary" facts or small talk. The actual video then was approved. But then came the matter of the release date. Suddenly they told me the specific day, a weekday on which I usually don't release videos because I know my stats and some days are simply better (or worse) than others to release a video. Buuut they would hear none of that. Alright, I can change the day for the sake of peace. There's still an unresolved matter of adding the name of the item into the title or not - even though I told them a few times already that I'm not putting the name in the video title since it's only an intedgrated ad and no dedicated video. Guess there are a few more email to some. And then hopefully the release day and pay day. 🙄
Honestly, this amout of going back and forth with the agency is abnormally high. A time-consuming part of the collab, which is mostly not taken into consideration and not refelcted in the actual fee they're paying me. Reminds me again of the facts why I rarely do paid ads like this one - haha. Let's keep out fingers cossed that this collab will be done soon. ;)
