Attack on Titan OVA: 'No Regrets: Part 2'- EARLY ACCESS UNCUT FULL REACTION

You didn't mention the most telling sign of all in the very first episode he appears in: After he kills those two titans, he says disgusting when looking at the blood on his hand (as we learn later, he has an obsession with cleanliness). But when his dying comrade holds out his bloodied hand, he takes and holds it without hesitation. That's all you really need to know to understand that Levi is very compassionate under the surface..

Levi is such an interesting character because he always tries to hide his feelings by acting so cold and emotionless but his actions and words always show otherwise. We've already seen it in season 1 and 2 multiple times. When he was flying past his squad that was decimated by Annie, he didn't cry, he didn't yell, and although you could see it on his face that it hurt you could make an argument that he was acting cold. But then the very next episode he fucking destroys Annie. Then the scene with those two guys that go against Erwin and Levi's orders and attempt to retrieve their dead friend's (his name was Ivan) body. I'm sure a lot of people thought that the cold, emotionless Levi was going to say/do something harsh to him after the whole event, but what does he do? He fucking gives him a scout's badge (I don't say Ivan's because I believe it was Petra's but Levi knew this would help that scout in dealing with his friend's death.) and says, "This is proof that they once lived.. That's how I see it, anyways." And the scene where they come up with the theory that the titans that mysteriously showed up didn't come from outside the walls but were the people of Conny's village. Levi is like, "So you're telling me I've spent all this time and energy running around killing people?" Basically showing that it bothers him.. Meanwhile Erwin is just excited that they're closer to uncovering the truth of the titans. There's more but, yunno, lol. And then this episode.. He didn't just tell his friends, "I don't want you to come because I'm afraid I'll lose you." He says it in another way. But it always gets me emotional seeing Levi just lose it when he stumbles across his friends' dead bodies. He couldn't even put on an act. He just let everything out.. And to see him after he kills that titan, just standing there crying.. phew.. so rough. If you look at Levi just on the surface level you could make the mistake of assuming that he's one of those boring, "Oh I'm a badass who never shows emotions, says cool lines, and just kicks everyone's ass.", characters.. but if you look deeper at the things he does and says.. he is so much more. Sorry for the long post but this episode just gets me going. It IS kind of a shame that they didn't include it in the actual anime. It really does a lot for his character. I did a couple edits to this post but this is the final, lol.

Ray
