There’s a scene where one of the characters argues that life—everything alive in the universe—is “evil,” and she welcomes the idea of apocalypse. As if life itself is a glitch that finally gets corrected, leaving no more death, no more pain, no more sorrow—none of the burdens that come with existence. I think this ties into your idea of light (and life) as an anomaly in the darkness. Interestingly, one interpretation of the film is that it serves as a metaphor for suicide and the whole process of getting there. Would love to hear your thoughts if you ever watch it!
