They're just fodder, and occasionally, they're fun to read about, bit oftentimes, they are just forgettable and don't really do much for the plot.

It's really hard for these villains to matter when we have no context for why they are even upset. So far, all of the non-nexus villains have been some flavor of humorously ridiculous or just random. Lyra, Thea, Ace... none of them even made sense. Then even degrading further, Garrett and this random group, which I assume has to do with that random crab guy (who we also have no reason to care about)

A car honked its horse several times, mixed with an angry shout. Weirdest of all, the horse trotted sideways to avoid the action, its tack and saddle jingling. Honked its horn -horse

Honestly I can see how it’d go. Randidly beats her, she has some sorta backup/secret plan, our boi thwarts it, then she rants about her goals and all the injustice and blabla then Randidly fires back a short response or just shrugs then she glares at him as she dies or is taken prisoner or something.

I wonder if these guys realize how lucky they are, running into Hank of all people. If they’d run into a certain sunny lady and her dragon friend, they’d no doubt be subjected to a mauling and a 6-hour sermon on the glory of Randidly Ghosthound. Instead a cowboy and his horse are offering them drinks if they come quietly.
