Speculation ahead, you have been warned. Puddles has been throwing a lot of exposition around about nether being connection and memory, and the strongest images being indistinguishable from memories. I guess the Visage of Obsession is pushing Randidly to realize that the best images incorporate TRUE stories, memories of reality. This fits with the old lines about strong images telling a story convincing enough that the universe believes it. With nether being history and the past, aether fills the role of the future and possibilities. The unity of the two through story leads to the "prospective future", aether, exceeding possibility and becoming reality. In the end Randidly will create an image of himself superceding the nexus, an image which incorporate the legend of Randidly Ghosthound, his history, making the title of the fiction relevant to the conclusion. Or in two chapters all of this could be debunked by a casual statement from a character from a higher tier in the nexus. Still, it's fun to think about.
