As for the reason he's subconsciously aware of them, that's hard to say but there are a few possibilities. I will list them from most likely to least likely. 1. His grim intuition picked them up during Hellen's funeral. He's not consciously aware of their existence since he did not focus in on them, but his grim intuition has grown to the level that he was aware of them in some way and their story he became aware of invaded deep into his subconscious and it's rising up now as he forms this image because it happens to be useful due to the fact the real Lizakh are having the same sort of difficulty with the harsh winter on Expira. This sort of thing actually sounds like exactly what the influence of his Visage of Obsession might cause. 2. Nether is an energy that works on memories, and he has been improving his nether skills a great deal. Perhaps he has advanced to a point with his nether that he can sense some kind of flashes from the past via nether and he's sensing something related to the fate of the Lizakh from before they were sent to Expira as monsters to harass the natives. 3. His Ygdrasil image has the Akashik record which holds the entire history of the universe on it. He has been working with Ygdrasil a lot lately, maybe he has recently managed to improve it to the extent that it can start relaying real history he shouldn't actually know about to him via his deep subconscious.

It’s been touched on before that the likes of Grim Chimera or Yggdrasil actually already exist and there is a balance and synergy between creating the image and tapping into the communal mind or history of that image. If you are familiar with tarot and Archons I would say it’s like that.

Or maybe, adapting and adjusting it? D'min could be an outsider created by Randidly to the Lizakh who are actually dealing with the Calamity.
