Glen's words confirmed Jack's hopes. "Ah, Son Goten. A very good choice. He has the most potential among all the characters that aren't broken but sadly wasn't used that well in the story. I guess that won't be an issue with you taking over as Goten."
Overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement, Jack could hardly contain himself. "Thank you, thank you so much!" he blurted out.
Glen smiled warmly at him before walking over to the door. "Good luck in your new life, Jack," he said gently before opening the door and adding with sincerity, "May you find the happiness and fulfillment you seek." With those final words, Glen left the room.
As if in response to his departure, a blinding flash of light filled the room and engulfed Jack. His consciousness began to drift away, and he felt himself losing consciousness.
…
As the morning sun began to rise over Mount Paozu, its gentle rays filtered through the window of a small house nestled in the serene mountainside. A small kid with spiky black hair slept peacefully on the edge of a large bed, his right hand dangling off it as the sun shined on his face.
Feeling the sunlight on his face, his face scrunched up in a grimace as he tried to rub trying to stop the annoying sensation. Still feeling the sun's rays on his face, he rolled over to escape them, only to fall off the bed, landing face-first on the ground with a thud.
"Ow... what the...?" he groaned, rubbing his face as he sat up. That's when he noticed his hands. They were smaller than he remembered. Looking down at them, he muttered, "Why are my hands so small?" He quickly jumped up and looked at his body, panic rising. "No way... is this real? Did I... did I actually die?"
Looking around the bedroom, Goten spotted a mirror attached to the dressing table. He quickly ran to it to see his reflection. The reflection was of a five-year-old kid with spiky black hair and a face that looked like a younger version of Goku and not that of Jack. He thought, "I am Goten... I'm really Goten. Then that wasn't a dream. All that happened in that place was real," he whispered, touching his face.
Just then, he felt a wave of information entering his mind, or more like this body's memories were coming back to him. He remembered being raised by Chi-Chi, and playing with Gohan when Gohan wasn't busy training.
He had memories of Goten and Chi-Chi visiting Goku's grave, which was near their house. He remembered celebrating Goten's birthday with Chi-Chi and Gohan. He relived all of Goten's memories in what felt like hours but was just a few seconds in the real world, all these memories were from Goten's perspective.
As Goten's memories assimilated, he felt and remembered everything Goten had been through up until yesterday, their souls merging and becoming one. Goten sat down on the floor in front of the mirror, feeling overwhelmed as both Goten's and Jack's memories merged.
As each one of Goten's memories played one after another in his mind, he noticed something peculiar. This version of the Dragon Ball world wasn't the same as the one from the Dragon Ball anime.
this world was different as Goten had memories of a beaten-up Gohan coming home with multiple injuries, with his mother Chi-Chi treating him. Gohan would then go back and get injured again, training hard.
The most important detail he noticed in Goten’s memories was that in this world both android 17 and 18 were evil and were wreaking havoc across the globe. They also killed the other Z fighter after Goku's death, leaving only Gohan alive.
Gohan had pushed himself hard to avenge his fallen friends, only to fail and get beaten up by the androids over and over again. That's when everything clicked in Goten's mind. "This is the future timeline... shit."
Just then, he heard his mother Chi-Chi calling him, "Goten, dear, wake up, or you're going to miss breakfast," as she opened the door to the room. Seeing Goten on the floor in front of the mirror, she asked, confused, "What are you doing there, Goten? Get ready, or you're going to miss breakfast."
Goten nodded and said, "Ah, I just woke up and... I rolled off the bed," he said with a sheepish smile while scratching the back of his head. "Well, hurry up then, mister. Go take a bath and make sure to brush your teeth," she said, shooing Goten to the bathroom.
Goten quickly rushed to the bathroom, the muscle memory helping him find it easily. While brushing his teeth, his mind raced. "Damn, I was transmigrated into the future timeline."
Spitting out the toothpaste, he muttered, "Okay, think. What do I know that happens in this timeline? First, every Z fighter except Gohan is dead. Gohan trains Trunks, then gets killed by the androids. Trunks is the last survivor. Then in the future, Zamasu comes, and the timeline is erased."
"First things first, I need to stop Gohan from dying in this timeline, and I need to take care of the androids as soon as possible," he thought, taking off his clothes. "If I remember correctly, Gohan was at least as strong as one of the androids when he died and only died because he had to fight them two-on-one."
"After that, I need to make sure Beerus is still alive to deal with Zamasu. If I remember correctly, the Supreme Kai is killed by Babidi or something, and because Beerus and the Supreme Kai are linked he dies. So, all I have to do is keep the Supreme Kai alive, and Beerus can deal with Zamasu," he thought while taking a bath.
Goten then paused and said, "But Goten isn’t born in the future timeline. Only Trunks was born in that timeline. That means either this is an alternate timeline or the original timeline was altered to include Goten."
"Either way, I have to get stronger. If I remember correctly, a seven-year-old Super Saiyan Goten was as strong as a base Gohan in the Buu saga after he slacked off." Quickly drying himself, Goten got dressed in the black and orange gi that Chi-Chi had set out for him on the bed.
Coming out of the room, Goten saw Chi-Chi plating up a big breakfast. Seeing Goten, she called him over, "Come eat, Goten, while it's still hot." Walking over to the table, Goten saw a mouth-watering spread of breakfast and started to eat.
Goten paused and asked Chi-Chi, who sat down to eat as well, "Um, Mom, where's Gohan?" He looked around. Chi-Chi sighed and said, "You know that brother of yours, always training. I wish he didn’t have all that weight on his shoulders," she said, looking sad.
She then muttered to herself, "I should bring Gohan his lunch, or that boy might forget to eat again," turning to Goten she asked, "Goten, honey, I will be bringing Gohan lunch later. Do you want to come with me?"
Goten, swallowing a mouthful of food, nodded eagerly. "Sure, Mom. I can come." He thought to himself, "I can ask Gohan to train me."
