Friends I have an emergency! My computer does not turn on and does not respond at all. I painted a fanart for a new overwatch character. My monitors went out and the sound disappeared. I could not turn off the computer. I disconnected it from the power supply and now it does not turn on. I'm in a panic. I did not have time to load Yoko and save the new drawing. Tomorrow I will look for the cause and most likely I need a master and repair. I hope this is not a data drive. A minute of panic is over. If you encountered such a problem, what was it?

Good night!😭😫😴😲

hope everything is okay now ...

Looks like everyone else already stated the main an likely causes glad you got it working again.

Thank you so much!

Thanks!

Thank you!

Very sorry for the lost drawing! Losing work sucks. You might consider a monthly back-up service, like Carbonite. They start around $6 a month, and can be a real lifesaver if something goes wrong with your hardware. Often, a service will back up as you go -- though not until you save something. (Save early and often!) You should run some diagnostics and a virus scan. Hope it's nothing serious!

Everything works again! In appearance it looks like the wire was disconnected >_< But my monitor disconnected the same way several times for a short time or a second in the last couple of months. I could accidentally touch the wires and this led to a breakdown. Now I need to be more alert and copy files directly to the cloud storage.

Update: I was able to start the computer. I checked all the wires, reconnected them again, turned on and off the power supply. After that, the computer turned on. I'm glad that it works. But was it really a matter of disconnecting the cable? Glory to all the gods! But there is bad news. My Brigitte drawing was not saved and I lost it. Thank you all very much for your help and the words of calm! T_T

As many people have said, it could be a lot of things, power supply, old age, or even just too much dust inside. One thing you can do, is unplug the power cord, hold the power button for about 10 seconds, release. Plug it back in and try to turn it on again. This resets the hardware and would allow it to turn back on if there was some feature which caused everything to simply stop working. Depending on how well you maintained it, dust could be caking some internal components which would need to be cleaned off with some canned air.

Sounds like it could be the power supply or the motherboard. There's one trick you could try and, depending on what kind of PC it is (off the shelf, general consumer brand like Dell, Lenovo, or HP, or something more enthusiast branded such as Asus, MSI, or something like that) it might work. Unplug the power supply from the wall outlet, then hold in the power button on the computer for about 10 seconds and release it. Plug it back in and attempt to power it on again. I've had that work on HP and Lenovo machines that are about 3 years old or older. I don't expect it to work in this case, but it's possible. Otherwise, I'd do what some of the others have suggested and first attempt to try a different power supply. Hopefully it's not the motherboard, that would be a pain in the ass to have to replace. But I agree that it doesn't sound like your hard disc/SSD, whichever you're using.

Memory or your CPU tension

Well, you could open it yourself and see if it has black spots on the main board. If it is a desktop computer that is, I highly doubt the Power supply or motherboard shorting would result in a data wipe. It could be possible if the power supply got overloaded and sent more power to your hard drives.

Awesome to see the response from everyone! My thoughts on the issue have already been mentioned so I hope your able to get up and running again soon! :)

Everyone else has said it already, probably PSU or MoBo. I hope you get it fixed easily, good luck!

From your description it looks like PSU ( power supply ) or motherboard might be the issue. You need someone or yourself to get a new PSU ( borrow from a friend if you can, just for testing ). Plug cables from new PSU in to your mobo and try to turn it on. HDD is probably safe, unless you PSU got hit by power surge ( like thunderbolt ) then all can be dead. If you have someone with a spare PC willing to help you, it will be quite easy to troubleshoot which part is probably damaged, be it mobo or PSU. You test parts one by one. Do you have so brand PSU or "no name" like these in Dell PCs ?

SteelRaven

That doesn't sound like your data drive, as JonasZX says - that's going to be a problem with the PC itself. May not be a permanent one, but you will probably need a new motherboard at least

tom jones

Ouch :( hope you can get it sorted easily <3

Barcod

Thank you!💪

Ouh oh. No sweat, happened to me a lot. I still have regular Bluescreens, I lost a lot of data. But it isn't a HDD or SSD problem, if nothing is happening and the PC isn't even booting into the BIOS, the Motherboard is, as we Germans say, am Arsch 😅

JonasZX

Monitors have power. They turn on and show their menu. But they do not transmit the image from the computer. I watched the anime and at that moment the sound disappeared. So I realized that this is not just a malfunction with monitors.

Prywinko

Not sure I have had this exact issue. But I have had my share of computer deaths and scares. Some due to old age, some due to over-heating. Mainly as mentioned, it is about staying calm and patient. Even though that is life and work and years of time all saved in that little box. I am hoping everything is fine for you in morning. Fingers crossed.

Thank you!!!

Prywinko

I'll try it! I have a battery for sockets. I do not know how to say it in English ((As described above, this is really not a valid power supply.) In the morning I will check different versions.

Prywinko

C-Kay has the right of it. If nothing is turning on, then it's not the drive. Sounds like you have either a power or motherboard problem. You said the monitors went out. Do you mean they won't turn on, either? Like, not even to a blank screen? If so, it may just be an issue with the socket and all you need to do is flip a breaker in the fuse box.

Lizardman

Have you tested the outlet it was plugged into? Just try it with a phone charger would work

HonkingSpider

No even its the data drive the Computer should start. I think its possible the power unit or the mainboard. But at the same time no sound and no monitor i would say the power unit.

C-Kay

Hope all enviroments are good. Don't panic.
