EPISODE RECAP:
FLASH BACK to the end of the 2nd Korean Conflict (first mentioned in MHAbridged Episode 17):
Overlooking the lopsided devastation their quirks caused, Captain Seal disbands “Seal Team SUX”
Crimson Chariot voices his displeasure with their actions, and hopes it pushes for a “cure” for quirks
Nana Shimura is excited to see her father’s (All for One) reaction to using her quirk in a way he does not approve
Yuri Yaoyorozu vows to bring peace to the world, even if it means fighting for a 100 lifetimes
PRESENT DAY: Scott, now hailing himself the “Shadow President,” sends Seal on a fetch quest for the remaining Dragon Balls that have breached into their world after Jiren’s culling of the multiverse
The modern iteration of Seal Team SUX is reformed, with the addition of Ochako, who is searching for Himiko Toga (a former cohort of the group)
MEANWHILE: the U.S. government has deployed Star and Eagle Squad in an expensive last ditch effort to defeat Shigaraki
Star’s quirk, New Order, is revealed to be the stopgap protecting their universe from the others (as well as domestic threats). If a breach presents itself as a large enough threat, New Order assimilates it
However, there are LIMITS: only so many orders can be imposed at once on a single target, which must also be strictly identifiable; and Shigaraki’s crisis of identity (and AFO’s twisted shade inside) makes him tough to pin down
Ultimately, Star forfeits New Order to Shigaraki, dying in the process. However, she imposes a final order that the quirk will now destroy its host(s)
TWIST!: Yomama has secretly been pulling the strings and carrying on Yuri’s will, using this chaotic situation to bring the Dragon Balls and New Order to one convenient location
However, Ochako takes half the Dragon Balls on a detour through a tear in timespace (Bermuda Triangle?)
Yomama acquires New Order from Shigaraki and creates a new universe
STINGER: a version of Ida gets lost on his way back from the Tournament of Power and winds up in Yomama’s new universe
Ida is met by Detective Pikachu, now promoted to Captain of an insurgency group that includes Senku
Spy x Family ABRIDGED is revealed to have been JUMP FORCE ABRIDGED 2 all along, and a side continuity has been formed
IMPLICATIONS FOR THE MULTIVERSE:
As revealed in Spy x Family ABRIDGED 11, not only does this parody NOT take place in the past, it is now confirmed to be a completely new universe created by Yomama (explaining A LOT of inconsistencies)
As mentioned in Into the Goku-Verse, time travel is NOT linear, but parallel to other universes
This version of Ida does not know Yomama is a villain yet, but will become the one to confront her in Dark Deku ABRIDGED and New Order, but ultimately expresses pity for her
As a homunculus of former Yaoyorozu family members, Yomama reveals through excising and killing her childhood dog, Toast, that she has already found the loophole around Star’s Final Order
Each member of the insurgency so far was previously seen holding another role in the Spy x Family ABRIDGED universe; implying they have been sabotaging Yomama’s world all along
Captain Pikachu seemingly holds an important position at Loid’s agency
Senku is a member of an illuminati-like group called The Rochambureau, which includes other geniuses, such us Bulma and Makima
Ochako and half the Dragon Balls are M.I.A. (hope that doesn’t bite Yomama in the ass later…)
Loid lamented in SxFA Episode 9 that he doesn’t know himself at all (hope THAT doesn’t bite Yomama in the ass later…). This may be the reason why EVERYBODY is so interested in Loid…
THEMES AND SUCH:
The cycle of hatred and retribution continues, but some characters are growing wise and hopping off:
Star has grown weary of fighting for a “peace” that never takes hold. She concedes New Order to Shigaraki, reasoning that if you can’t fight hatred, then allow it to consume itself
Eagle Squad furthers this sentiment, forgoing a repetitive set of government orders to simply focusing on the protection of their own found family unit (even at risk to their own lives)
“There is no grand plan for anything. Everyone is winging it ‘til the moment of truth.”
Have you seen the stock market lately? Even the most evil people in your life can’t plan worth shit. Become the thing they cannot plan for…
Additionally, Ochako (among the more pessimistic characters in this abridged series) is having a crisis of faith; particularly if saving Toga is achievable after rebuking her
Scott reasons that mistakes happen and people show their true colors when it matters most; reconciliation is still an option to the bitter end
TRIVIA:
Star and Stripe’s mini arc in the original My Hero Academia manga came so far out of left field that writer/director LeRoy had ZERO plans for the character and was willing to “wing it”
Abridged Star’s voice actor improvised her lines at the end of Dark Deku Abridged (most of which was cut and reworked into New Order). She cites her inspiration for this characterization as “Monkey D. Garp (from One Piece) if he smoked crack”
Eagle Squad was originally intended to be the Dark Deku Militia (first seen in Dark Deku ABRIDGED), but making them clone troopers ripped from a 80’s Saturday morning cartoon presented a far funnier story
The production codename for this project was “MHA35,” in reference to the abridged series’ cancelled Episode 35 that would have been the crossover special that led into the first Jump Force ABRIDGED
