State of the JoyRide 2024

Happy 9th Anniversary, JoyBoys!

Let’s cut to the chase…

Every year I write a summary of the year that was and the year ahead for JoyRide, but frankly, I’m tired of yapping. We wanna hear from YOU now!

In 2023 we pledged to focus on quality over quantity, but it didn’t take until 2024 to put that plan into action. There were 6 My Hero Abridged releases alone in 2023, but only one in 2024. Guess which one outperformed them and every other video this year by mile?

What did we learn from this? We achieved consistent quality. Now we must achieve consistent viewership; and current viewership tells us that is achieved through consistent SCALE. As you noticed from the decreased output this year (with 40% of it all occurring in the month of December BTW) and increased interest in BIGGER parodies like Dark Deku Abridged… THAT TAKES TIME AND MONEY. YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE ON PATREON.

There’s only one thing we want in 2025 (our 10th year!!!), and it’s to give you what YOU want. With a relatively fresh slate ahead of us (only 2 parodies are in production right now; and 1 additional major project concretely planned for later), this is the perfect time for you to help hone our focus; not only in parody releases, but community events/projects, Patreon rewards, etc.

We genuinely want to know WHY you support us, and how we can best return the favor! So…

I’m tired of yapping. I’m burnt out from producing 7 videos in less than 2 months. As Abridged Eraserhead would say (as I wrote for the character), “that exhaustion is an expression of gratitude.” But I feel like burning myself out steering this ship in directions folks may not even want to go is wasting a truly precious gift.
