237 One Piece: My Name is Jack
Added 2025-04-21 13:31:37 +0000 UTCKaido had been causing havoc for years before Jack, yet somehow, Jack was the first to break through to this new level of power. Aside from raw talent, Jack could only conclude that Kaido simply hadn't been as reckless as him.
This realization hit Kaido hard. He lay on the ground for an entire day without saying a word. If not for Jack tossing a mating tigress at him, Kaido might have remained in his self-imposed silence even longer.
Fortunately, Kaido snapped out of it quickly. As someone who valued strength above all else, he had long noticed Jack's growing power. His temporary sulking was merely a result of being unable to accept that while he had been roaming the seas with his near-immortality, Jack—who had only recently awakened his own undying body—had already surpassed him.
What Kaido didn't know was that Jack's breakthrough wasn't just due to his immortal body—certain skills that had seemingly vanished also played a role.
After regaining his spirits, Kaido sparred with Jack for some time, even allowing Jack to go all out and knock him unconscious in an attempt to push his own limits. When that failed to grant him a breakthrough, he temporarily abandoned the idea of surpassing his immortality.
Jack had no ambition to become a captain, and as Kaido's son-in-law, he posed no threat to Kaido's position. The stronger Jack became, the higher their chances of successfully resisting the World Government. Rather than feeling threatened, Kaido was secretly pleased. With Jack's strength surpassing his own, there would be no need for Kaido to personally handle troublesome opponents in the future.
As the two returned to Onigashima, Jack picked up a newspaper to see what new events had unfolded across the sea.
"Enies Lobby breached? The Buster Call reappears?!"
"Marshall D. Teach joins the Seven Warlords of the Sea!"
"Whitebeard's Second Division Commander, Ace, captured?!"
"Jinbe imprisoned?!"
"Worst Generation shakes Sabaody Archipelago!"
Jack raised an eyebrow.
"Pirates have gotten bolder this year, huh? They're calling this the 'Worst Generation' now?"
Then his gaze landed on one name.
Ace...
"Is he just throwing his life away?"
If Ace was captured, what would Whitebeard do?
And Jinbe... That stubborn fool. Still devoted to Whitebeard? Now he's going to die for it.
As Jack was lost in thought, a soft voice came from outside the room.
"Jack-sama, Kaido-sama has summoned you."
Jack glanced up. "Ah? Got it."
Then he paused, narrowing his eyes at the figure outside.
"Wait a second. Rim, when did you get here? Weren't Tenjō and the others supposed to be on watch outside?"
Rim remained silent.
Jack sighed. "Protect your kidneys, Rim. You're no match for that sharp tongue of hers."
Upon arriving at Kaido's hall, Jack was surprised to find a masked man in a white top hat standing beside Kaido. The attire was unmistakable—CP0.
The moment Jack saw him, memories resurfaced. Back when they had rescued Tom, everything had gone so smoothly that Jack had briefly suspected Kaido was working with the World Government. Later, he realized that his own attire back then had made him look so much like a CP0 agent that the idiot mistook him for one.
But why would CP0 be here?
Sure, Wano's seastone exports were secretly traded with the World Government through underground channels, but CP0 showing up so openly was practically a death wish.
"Jack, get over here," Kaido called, then turned to the CP0 agent. "Gairnika. Keep talking. What does the World Government want?"
The masked man, Gairnika, glanced at Jack and hesitated before speaking softly.
"Kaido-sama, this information is highly confidential—"
"Oi! We're not like Whitebeard's crew. Speak plainly or get lost!" Jack snapped.
Gairnika hesitated but ultimately continued, "The trial for Ace will take place in two months."
Kaido's expression remained unreadable, but Jack folded his arms, listening intently.
"Whitebeard has already begun gathering his fleet. He will undoubtedly attempt a rescue. This is a trap set by the World Government—an open one. Even knowing that, Whitebeard has no choice but to go."
Gairnika paused before adding, "And when that happens, his territories will be left defenseless."
Jack and Kaido exchanged glances.
"If the Beasts Pirates move in and seize those territories, your influence will expand dramatically."
Gairnika's voice lowered slightly.
"I was sent here not just to deliver this message but also to present an offer."
Jack frowned. "An offer?"
Gairnika nodded. "The Whitebeard Pirates possess a Road Poneglyph. It is currently located in a small town called Rhoda."
Silence filled the hall.
Kaido's breath hitched slightly before he growled, "A Road Poneglyph? And you're just giving me this information? Why would the World Government hand this over?"
Gairnika's response was calm. "Kaido-sama, I never said I represented the World Government."
Kaido froze. Before he could respond, Gairnika pressed on, "Since the formation of the Beasts Pirates, your every move has been closely monitored. While Wano's isolation makes intelligence gathering difficult, we have extrapolated your current strength from your activities."
He took a step forward. "Neither the Revolutionary Army nor the other Emperors stand a real chance against the World Government. Their ambition, strategy, and raw power all pale in comparison to yours."
His voice dropped to a whisper. "And among all the major forces, the Beasts Pirates are the strongest, boasting two Yonko-level combatants."
Kaido narrowed his eyes, listening.
"The person I serve believes in your potential. He wishes to work with you."
Jack tensed. "Work with us? For what?"
Gairnika's next words sent a shockwave through the room.
"To overthrow the Celestial Dragons and free all the slaves."
A heavy silence followed.
Then, Kaido let out a booming laugh.
"Wororororo! Interesting. This is getting interesting!"
His grin widened. "The one you serve... So even among the Five Elders, there's someone who wants to end this dull world?"
He slammed a fist into his palm. "Fine. I'm in."
"You can leave now."
As Gairnika departed, Kaido burst into another fit of laughter.
"Wororororo! This is getting more and more entertaining! The Five Elders, huh?"
Unlike Kaido, Jack remained silent, resting a hand on his chin.
Whitebeard's war against the Navy...
Just how many UR-tier figures would be involved?
Should he go and take a look himself?
