Recently I was asked how Miss Miyuki injured herselfand I realized I should redraw/finish her story. For now two Illustrations and a short story bout Miss Miyuki after her accident in the library.

The first time Kaito Nakamura noticed Miss Miyuki’s feet, it was autumn. The crisp air carried the scent of ink and chalk dust through the school corridors, and the click of her wooden crutches echoed like a metronome. Her right foot vanished swiftly beneath her navy-blue skirt, but the left—encased in a bulky plaster cast—hovered stiffly, a clumsy counterpoint to her grace. The cast was a mosaic of scribbled well-wishes from students, though its edges had begun to yellow.

“Complicated fracture,” she’d explained once, when a first-year asked. Her smile was a wisp of tissue paper. “It’s… stubborn.”

Kaito memorized her routine. Every morning, she paused at the stairwell, her knuckles whitening on the crutch handles as she navigated the steps. He’d linger nearby, pretending to tie his shoe, watching the tremor in her nylon-covered toes—sheer taupe, polished nails peeking through like crushed petals. One day, in a hurry he misjudged his path, his heel came down hard on the edge of her right cast.

She gasped, a sound sharp as a snapped branch.

“S-sensei, I’m sorry—”

“It’s ah alright,” she said, too quickly. Her smile flickered. “It doesn’t hurt much anymore.”

But he saw the sweat at her temples, the way her fingers dug into the crutches, shivering. When she hobbled away her foot did not once touch the ground.

Her casts grows dirtier by the week stained yellow the foot was nearly gray, speckled with hallway grime. When the nurse replaced them, Kaito lurked by the clinic’s trash bin, heart thrashing. The discarded plaster casts felt heavy in his backpack.

That night, in his room, he unspooled the lies he’d told himself. He pressed his face on the cast. Breathing in 10 weeks of feet and sweat. He told himself it was curiosity—a boy’s idle fascination. But beneath the lamplight, the truth was merciless.
