As mentioned all Sinners are based on books and Ishmael is clearly moby dick. So her background story is being a sailor on a whaler with a captain obsessed hunting a white whale.
Her story is the current last chapter of the steam/mobile game and pretty good.
I decided to follow the idea use the opportunity to add some references. Not a book but a newspaper article. Her current predicament is a reference to a female sailor, Pia Hansen 21 a Danish shipmate appraintice who fell from a ladder (24 feet / 7 meters into one of the hatches) and broke both legs. You can find her picture in the archive of gimpix.
