Loved this convo. The decision about whether to have kids is so real. My husband was pretty much a 90% no when we first met and I was a 200% yes. Like Ian said, it was something I just thought everyone did and I think youth gave me this glossy view of parenthood. Now we are in this stage where all of our friends are having kids and you get to see the positives and negatives of that decision with the lens of an adult as opposed to that of a kid. And that experience changed my view in many ways where now I don't want kids haha. But like Meredith was saying it also gives you the freedom to be a deeper presence in other peoples lives. My husband's sister has 2 kids so we get to be Uncle's with the time and energy to give ourselves to them fully. In the meantime I want to use the savings from not having a kid to have a greenhouse where I can grow my plants year long, they shall be my children haha

But I hate hearing that the ones who don't marry or don't have children are the ones who have an expectation to do it. Most of us want to take care of those we love, but it should be a discussion instead of automatically assigning the role

It seemed the care for our parents fell to me I think because I was single and didn’t have a family to manage. Not sure it should have been that way but we managed. Zach you will have A, so he will help, and if there are two of you I have observed sharing the aging challenge can be helpful. Love to you all

I was lucky with my parents who were very successful in their careers and to be brutally honest; lots of $$$ and ❤ made my parents last years comfortable for them and me and my siblings. I spent every possible moment with them and so damn grateful I could. My parents were wonderful human beings and I was so so honored to be one of their children. I've always said guests on MNJ make the show even better.
