We don't need any OnlyFans vibes here, just friends talking/listening. If it's good therapy for you to get things off your chest or just share your thoughts, we're here. I can relate that it's good sometimes just for somebody to listen to you. They don't need to respond just listen. And don't put so much pressure on yourself, Alastair too, with a "Year Of..." list. Be happy. Be kind. Be who you are.

The email went around my family this week asking us to opt in or opt out of the family gift name draw. I have opted out for the last several years but this year's email had a hopeful reference to people opting back in! Sigh. I'm 47. My aunts and uncles are in their late 60s and 70s. None of my cousins six kids are included in this list and they are the only ones I actually want to buy for! The $20 limit is never observed by anyone and if you have the bad luck of drawing someone who lives far away (50pct chance) the shipping costs more than the present...
I have a niece and 3 nephews and they are the ones I want to have a magical Christmas like the ones I had growing up. I'm so over Christmas. In years past I've measured the amount of "family" time I've put into preparing for Christmas (wrapping, decorating, lights, shopping, visiting) and it has been 40 to 60 hours through the month of December. This is excessive!
I think the next time I'm obliged to a gift exchange I will be making a donation to an animal rescue society.

Zach, I relate so much to your travel wants. I'm going to London next year for my birthday, and as of now, I'm going alone. I've told a few close friends about it and told them to join me if that want, but if not, I'm perfectly happy going and doing what I want when I want without worrying about other itineraries. The last time I was in Europe, I went to Paris and Rome with my friend, John. In Paris, I wanted to visit Oscar Wilde's grave. John didn't. So I went to the visit that cemetery (which was gorgeous), and John did his own thing. In Rome, though I'm not religious, I wanted to check out the Vatican. John didn't. Again, we parted ways that day. It was great.
In three weeks, I'm going to visit friends in Philly. The following weekend I'm taking the train to NYC by myself. I've been to NYC so many times in my life, but I still like to go up around Christmas to see the tree, and window decorations amongst other things.
I'm with you about Christmas presents. I used to spend a ton of money on all my relatives, but luckily that stopped that a few years ago. Now, I only buy for my two closest friends, and three coworkers. With the coworkers, we've set a $25 cap, so that's perfectly fine. This was a good ZAD! Looking forward to movie night tonight!

"Selfish" has a bad connotation. I know what you mean though. There is a Buddhist precept I live by which goes something like "Do not meditate where there may be bears present". Meaning, do not undertake meditation anywhere you may be in danger, for example, of being attacked by a bear. It does no one any good to have you injured or killed before you reach enlightenment (which ultimately is a goal to share with others). Look after yourself first so that you can then look after others. (Credit: Thich Nhat Hanh's Old Path, White Clouds)

I'd love to see the Gaga museum. You reminded me of the exact moment I knew Gaga was going to break everything: November 2009 I saw a video of her singing Speechless at the Museum of Contemporary Art in LA. She was playing a pink Steinway piano covered with blue butterflies, painted by Damien Hirst. She wore Prada and the hat she was wearing was designed by Frank Gehry the architect responsible for the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao, Spain. The combination really caught my attention. Shortly after The Fame Monster was released and the videos for Bad Romance, Alejandro and Telephone had me gagging... literally!

I like the title Zach After Dark - you make it work with the mood lighting and especially loving the 'dark' Coffee and Tequila set (it reminds me we can look forward to Coffee and Tequila again maybe next year). Jared's suggested Zach Unfiltered, Erick came up with Zach Unplugged....both good... but I'm going to suggest Zachary Raw! (maybe save that for the OnlyFans)

Hell yes…hell yes. I have been doing the same thing this year. I have been SUCH a yes man in my life…felt guilt if I didn’t do everything for everyone…so much so it was taking a physical toll on me as….well I am not super old, but I am definitely not Can Do It All age any longer either. So some health stumbles and falls happened and I realized I had to stop living like that. It helps the husband has the opposite attitude. Thanksgiving rolled around and I could tell my family was trying to corner me into hosting and doing the whole dinner again as I have done in other years and I was just No…can’t do it, don’t want to do it. I just want to do a small little dinner for us. Christmas, same thing, we can do some family time…but no gifts…none of that…not doing it.
Sound healthy and empowered Zach…you go…
I agree with Jared…unfiltered Zach is why I tuned in…maybe instead of After Dark, it should have been Zach Unplugged 😁

Great to get an update on your travels ... I was arriving in Vegas Sunday noon about when you were leaving and wondered if the universe would conspire one of those surprise rendezvous, but I apparently have too much trauma from past Spirit flights to get anywhere near them! 😜
The F1 zoo was pretty crazy but we still out got to see the "Postcard from Earth" movie at the Sphere - pretty amazing visuals but not so much that you'd get motion sickness.
I gave up on gift giving unless something truly inspired materializes - that can be a lot of fun but otherwise no sense in making it a struggle. Instead I donate some money to causes my relatives care about since they really don't need more "stuff"

Hello sir Zach, it’s always fun. I love to travel and journey with my buddy of 44 years and his wife. We make a perfect threesome (no not like that) but we each seem to work together and apart. Actually arrived home from Washington a few hours ago, if you like history and museums it was great. Zach I think in the long run it is the moments of truth spent together and not gifts we will remember when we leave. I do like occasionally making notice of someone. Like Rory I remember the contracts. Zach one reason I am here with you and Alastair is you two have the ability to make moments for and with me. I will remember them. Goodnight from Calgary.
