Repairing Berm Peak's Wooden Features

It was a rough week on Berm Peak! We're used to lots of rain, but it's usually sporadic and not constant. The cooler temperatures are keeping everything soaking as well. The show must go on!

This week, we handle some long needed repairs on our ramps and skinnies, along with a tiny project for the Berm Peak Ranger Station. Enjoy!

Repairing Berm Peak's Wooden Features

The next log feature you create clean the log off and burn the outside of it with a torch and then sand some of the char off a bit it'll help preserve the log for a long time

It still astounds me that I'm sitting here watching some dude on the other side of the world doing chores - and I'm LOVING it!

If I ever stay at The Ranger Station I’m going to use that massive cog for a post ride charcuterie board.

A few things here. The timberlocks are insanely awesome and strong i built my deck with them. Second screws undergo brittle shear failure thus explaining why they broke off. Nails undergo inelastic failure and basically just bend, but lack the pullout strength that screws have. I still think screws are the correct fastener for the job but thought I would nerd out! I was a structural engineer by trade back in the day! Love the addition to the ranger station. A tip if your clamps are too short, you can clamp one clamp end to another and make it all the way across if that makes sense. Great video as always!

You need to use nails, they won't snap on you

Hell yeah! Enjoy some sunny weather finally

Watching this from the ranger station 😎
