yes it's mostly a 2D contest, but I will probably create a category for other medias such as sculptures/crafts etc :)

2015-03-01 19:01:17 +0000 UTCOh! I hope to have the time for these contests :D I definitly want to participate!
2015-03-01 17:35:18 +0000 UTCI feel like I'm in the minority here, but I definitely prefer the first payout scheme. Probably just my competitive nature... As for breaking up the prizes by skill level, that idea seems too hard to implement to actually work. Who would decide my skill level? Me? What if I think I'm advanced, but I actually have no chance, but might have fared well in the beginner level? Am I just screwed? And if someone were talented enough to get the 1st place prize, but unconfident and entered the beginner level, would an inferior piece win first instead? If the judges are deciding, how do they make the distinction between a poor "advanced" piece and a good "intermediate" piece? Does someone lose to an inferior piece because the judges thought they belonged in different skill brackets? Personally, it seems the point of an art contest is to have a competition. If everyone has equal chance of winning regardless of skill, why even bother submitting any art? It would just be a raffle at that point. If the judges just decided which pieces they liked the most, of that they thought demonstrated the most skill, that would be about as fair as anything. As far as themes go, I'd say keep it pretty broad. While doing art relating to a specific universe (be it Marvel, Disney, Alice in Wonderland or whatever else) might be fun, I think sticking to a genre instead might be better. Personally, I'd love to see some of the original characters the community can create (but I wouldn't want to force anyone to HAVE to draw an OC, either...).
2015-02-28 21:19:36 +0000 UTCOoh! Or what about a gender bend theme? That could be interesting :D

2015-02-27 23:22:15 +0000 UTCPS.I would love a fantasy theme or something of the sort :)
Anadia
2015-02-27 22:30:36 +0000 UTCTheme: Exotic? You can end with so many different entries with that, sadly as a writer and not artist I'll only be appreciating this time :)

2015-02-27 21:52:57 +0000 UTCSeems legit

2015-02-27 21:47:15 +0000 UTCYou're awesome for setting up a contest :) Keep it up Sakimi! <3
2015-02-27 19:24:07 +0000 UTCYay! So excited. Either way looks good to me. :)

2015-02-27 17:48:11 +0000 UTCSo excited for this! I think the first one sounds better. I have a question though... will you do more than one contest or will this be a one time thing?
Anadia
2015-02-27 17:34:35 +0000 UTCIt is a contest of drawing? Or maybe writing and other creations would be ok to participate?
Baikal
2015-02-27 14:32:13 +0000 UTCI think more winners would be more appreciated, and easier to judge. There will likely be times when you have more than one really good image and your second suggestion lets you choose both in that situation.

2015-02-27 12:49:41 +0000 UTCFantastic. I can't wait to enter. Themes will be fun, and we have time to come up with ideas, etc. maybe pick by series, or by genre. I'm open for whatever.
John Slaughter
2015-02-27 12:41:24 +0000 UTCI'd vote for the second option with the split prizes. Less money but more artists will get the chance to be recognized.
2015-02-27 12:27:05 +0000 UTCCongratulations! :) I think splitting it up would be the best for everyone. But I dunno if I'll attend cause I just started drawing and I'm still learning

2015-02-27 12:11:43 +0000 UTCCongratulations Sakimichan! I personally think splitting the prizes up is a better idea so more people can enjoy them and feel like winners.
2015-02-27 12:00:27 +0000 UTCTotally awesome, I'm so happy for you and it's motivating to see how far you got - congratulations (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ You living my dream, enjoy it for me too :P can't wait for the contest *-*

2015-02-27 10:01:43 +0000 UTCLook forward to when the dates and theme of the contest are announced.
2015-02-27 07:39:36 +0000 UTCI think that the second idea works better, you have one set of prizes for the advanced artists and another for the noobs. I'm pretty sure the 90% of the people here are beginners so there will be more people in that category, so I hope that the more advanced artist will be fair and stay in their category since they will have less people to compete against. :)
2015-02-27 07:31:04 +0000 UTCwooow congratz <3

2015-02-27 07:26:21 +0000 UTCI like the alternating idea!
Charlee Leung
2015-02-27 06:19:26 +0000 UTCI do like that idea a lot because I am a beginner...But someone experienced could join beginner just to increase their chances.

2015-02-27 06:17:55 +0000 UTCDon't hate me, but I suggest My Little Pony theme! It is popular among fans and ccompassionate people. It's where the eyes are at~

2015-02-27 05:53:38 +0000 UTCAwesome! You'll have to think of some more goals to add for yourself! did you ever imagine you would get this far??? For the contest I would highly recommend skill categories, beginning, intermediate, and advance. Than you can give the $1000 prizes to advance, $500 to intermediate, and $100 to beginners. I don't know how you were planning to set this up but I personally don't like contests based on how good the artwork is no matter how old or what level of experience an artist has. Everyone deserves a chance! I think it's a great opportunity for those just beginning to have something they can try to do, I really hope you would consider this factor when creating your contest. Once again, congrads :)
2015-02-27 05:27:59 +0000 UTCcongratz!!!! this is a great idea, can't wait! 2nd way seems unique and would make judging a bit easier, maybe both?? rotate between them . That or choose the method depending on the contest (ex if its drawing a face, 1 winner for female and male face?? bad example but you get the gist )
2015-02-27 05:23:46 +0000 UTCWhooo congratulations! the second option seems nicer; since its more spread out but yeah up to you!
RayDarkwolf
2015-02-27 05:19:40 +0000 UTCWait. What are you supposed to do? It seems there's a line missing. Is this a painting contest?
2015-02-27 05:15:51 +0000 UTCyay! thats good. Well i got no preference. You can decide.
