I'm not expert but I'd like to see the mother stand up to him because he's breaking Eve's self perception, and the mother tries to comfort rather than undo the psychological damage (which seems to just be adding up)

He gets angry and expresses it negatively but still tries to do what he thinks is best for his family. Overall he's an interesting depiction of parenting
