It's not *that* old to warrant a remake, even the effects aged well, not to mention the acting was spot on A prequel series on Morgoth would be something, but I do not think the world is ready for x10 Balrogs & a flying carpet dropping bombs

The Hobbit trilogy was fine and still watch it before watching the lord of the rings trilogy every time, because I like chronicle orders :). The hobbit books were better and they cut a lot in the movies. It could get remade but finding the right people for it is gonna be tough these days, I mean look at the abomination that is Rings of Power. So better not touch it.
