Yuji was an IDIOT to make it so easy for Sukuna to get. He's basically got trap card on the field no one knows about (at least for now) He'll get away with it a few times under the right circumstances, and get a few more fingers as a result.

Totally agree with your points, adds a layer of realism to the whole situation beyond the typical "that's what bad guys do" bs. Anyone can do harmful acts if the situation is right, it doesn't mean that's their nature. The guys who did it for kicks, those are the real bad guys.

Anyone can be a righteous person who "wants to do the right thing", but it takes a lot of self awareness on Yuji's part to be able to stop and realize "wait, I just spewed a bunch of idealistic garbage at Junpei without really knowing why he's even flipping his shit in the first place". He's actually able to get through to him by listening to him, offering him a place where he'll have friends, all while not entirely denying his desire for some kind of justice for what happened to his Mom. He did what you said people should have done with bullying victims who wind up turning into school shooters, he listened. He realized his lecturing was just pointless self-important babble and ACTUALLY TALKED TO HIM. He of-course then got a potent taste of the exact kind of indignation fueled homicidal rage that Junpei felt after seeing him disfigured, tortured and toyed with for fun by someone he couldn't possibly fight back against. In other words, a bully. Life's a bitch. On the other end we have Junpei who practically has no self awareness whatsoever, who's so absorbed in his own negative outlook on life he readily accepts Mahito's stereotypical nihilist tripe and doesn't think twice about the disfigured humans. After all Mahito was someone who was nice to him, and the disfigured humans were total strangers, even if Junpei had taken the time to really think about the situation he likely would have rationalized it as "Mahito's a good guy, those people probably deserved it anyway, just like the assholes at school that give me shit daily." Mahito was someone close to him, the disfigured humans were strangers, Junpei was fed up with everyone, so he listened to the one close to him and ignored the strangers. As Mahito said, a person who thinks too much can be just as ignorant as someone who barely thinks at all, in this case those two mistakes are pretty much the same. Then we have Mahito himself. In an arc that calls attention to one of the clearest examples of humanity's faults, a total lack of regard for other humans despite our constant preaching of the opposite, a malevolent spirit born from human's fear and hatred for each other is pretty much the perfect antagonist. His philosophy is pretentious rhetoric that malicious people use to justify their behavior despite acting as if justice means nothing, his power distorts and exploits the lives of others while irreparably damaging them. He responded to hate for others in killing those bullies at the theatre, he took advantage of a poor kind boy's hate in Junpei, he aroused a brand new hate in Yuji by treating Junpei as nothing but a broken tool. You could call him the perfect walking metaphor of humanity's inhumanity, but that'd be redundant considering that is quite literally what he is in universe. Also, I love the track they played during Yuji's rage, one of the best in the soundtrack.
