Kind of hard to convince someone to take the duty when you essentially killed their ghost wife. Sure her girlfriend is back, but with no memory of the time they shared and as a mortal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like Laurelyn had her daughter and raised her in an emotionally abusive manner with the ultimate goal of ending her own life early just to get out of the long life. Not a good look.
