Bullet Train - Disintegrating Sabot 3-ball round

Michael S.  wanted us to test these rounds.  They use a 3D printed sabot system that I believe are UV cured.   From the beginning I was skeptical that the sabots would be strong enough to transfer energy to the lead balls without breaking up.

The package is pretty long,  1.75",  which required me to use the shortest gas seals I had (x12x)  and even limited how much powder I could use-- and still fit everything into a 3" shell.  (most of our shotguns have 3" chambers)

Without a cushioned wad,  and weighing 1.5 ounces,  recoil was pretty sharp,  even at around 1000 fps velocity.

Even though the sabots broke into chunks,  the performance was actually surprisingly good for a prototype.

It's great to see young kids not only shooting but dang good at it. Yeah they're kids compared to me

Maff is hard!

Sounds like a mild load, (I only load pistol) but I wouldn't give out any data for liability purposes.

I believe some young ladies like the camera... The camera sure likes them! GET WELL SOON DANNY!

Ed Gibbs

Those glasses were hilarious.

And there's a third sister who is a shooter too. I think all the sisters had their first guns at age 1. lol not kidding.

TAOFLEDERMAUS

We shot 9 out of 10. Had one malfunction so we didn't show the 9th shot.

I didn't see the details, but it looks like FDM nylon or conventional machining would be doable.

She carried off those sunglasses better than OG could have. Unless he had a mullet... Yeah, a mullett might work.

I am in awe of how these two Cali beauties handle that 12 ga pump with heavy loads. They must have shooter genes in their blood. Their Dad can be really proud of their marksmanship (markswomanship?) skills. Nice vid, Jeff

I used 25 grains of long shot. Since these were one-offs and not even for sale for reloaders, it wasn't too relevant.

lol,, I worried that would be too much for the YT reviewers' sensibilities.

TAOFLEDERMAUS

Probably nylon, but it would take making expensive injection molds.

I sent 10 of them, so there can be more in another video. There are also stronger resins to use. They were printed on the Anycubic Photon

Luckily the OG wasn't there to pull his finger trick on those shot up pants.

I would have liked to have seen these fired into ballistics gel, can only imagine the devastating wound channels.

Pretty cool I think the sabot fracturing disrupted the hog balls in flight just enough to cause those little inconsistencies, what could the sabot be made of other then 3D printed stuff that might shatter ? Could you maybe use a little bit of hot glue or silly putty? I’m just thinking out loud styrofoam wouldn’t survive what about mattress foam type stuff?

She keeps giving away her secrets . Wish you could give your load recipes . I see dad really does have his hands full with those two.

Gotta love the snorting laughter.
