Radfall - Recommended Non-LitR Survival Configurations
Added 2024-10-20 11:10:51 +0000 UTCLife in the Ruins ships with a handful of settings that tweak elements of Survival. If you want to use Radfall outside of LitR, I recommend making these, however they are fully optional.
Damage And Loot Rarity
Within LitR, these are both handled by Lunar Fallout Overhaul. If you're not running it, you will probably want another mod to handle combat balance, and loot rarity, as Radfall doesn't touch either of those things.
Survival Configuration Menu
I recommend using SCM to adjust survival values, the following are the settings I use in LitR.
Companion Heal - off
If you're running Lunar or another mod that makes healing items more rare, I recommend setting this to off. Having to stimpak companions is a massive drain, and generally makes using companions just not worth it.
Disease - Off
Radfall disables the disease system, this just prevents the display message in case anything gets overriden.
Sleep
Mattress - 8 hours
Mattress cure sleep effect -> 1
Sleeping Bag - 8 hours
Sleeping bag cure sleep effect - 2
Heal after sleep - off
Radfall makes crafting beds almost impossible, so these balance out around that.
Comments
Thank you for clearing that up. I appreciate you making the patch to reenable it, but after seeing this I might just consider keeping it off.

2024-10-21 07:50:37 +0000 UTCThe vanilla disease system is built into the survival script. And at a core level, it just randomly gives you diseases for playing the game, not really linked to what you're doing. There's not really anything for the player to do, no choice for the player to make, it just makes the game grindier. Every mod of the system I've ever seen just doubles down on this, adding MORE diseases for the player to ignore, instead of streamlining the system and focussing on the core gameplay loop, and how a disease system could support it. Immersive Diseases modifies the survival HC script, and thereforeis incompatible with SCM.

2024-10-21 05:48:27 +0000 UTCThanks for posting this, I definitely intend on testing further with LITR but I'd love to try Radfall with just Damn Apocalypse for a lighter load order. Also would be very interested in re-enabling the disease system as well even if it's just vanilla. I haven't tried Immersive Diseases yet but from a quick glance I'd definitely like to try it out as well with it or maybe try my hand at patching Agony again with tweaks.

2024-10-20 18:30:15 +0000 UTCIt would require me making a patch, which would honestly take all of about 2 minutes. Let me know if it's something you're interested in. This kind of small tweak is definitely something I want to make available for people want it. That being said, I'm unaware of any disease overhaul out there that is any good.

2024-10-20 18:14:00 +0000 UTCIs there any way to reenable the disease system with radfall to be used with other disease overhauls?
