Brand new patron, and love your analyses! I second zomb, I'd love to see you react to the five star recording. It's titled INTRO "★★★★★ (5-STAR)" Part 3: Recording on their youtube channel. Part 2: Dance Practice would also be fascinating, as we get see Lee Know in his role of dance leader in that vid 🥳 I love the rapport between the group during these practices, but from a communication perspective I bet there's a lot we're missing. It'd be super interesting to see what you pick up on! 😄👍

u should react to the second 5 star recording video

In case you didn't catch it, what happened in that stupid little conversation between Lee Know and Changbin was Changbin called 'hyung', presumably meaning Chan, but for some reason pressed the talk button first, so Lee Know obviously thought he was talking to him, and then Changbin forgot what he just said, and then they were both confused. Lmao. (Also Changbin did actually mean 'perfect' when he said 'not close', lol) And yes, while Chan's leader of Stray Kids Chan, 3racha consider themselves equals! It's interesting to watch the dynamic shift to one to the other.

With 3racha each tends to direct the part they wrote most, so for Han's songs you tend to see Han leading and Chan focusses more on the technical recording- they record quite a lot in Chan's studio (Channie's Room) with just Chan doing all the tech stuff. But I love seeing their professional side and how they slightly change approach for each member. They know each other so well it's really cool to see.

Dad Bang Chan, Mom Changbin, and their genius son Han lol

Thank you for reacting to this! I think it's so cool seeing the guys working on the production side of things, whether it be the recording videos like this or the dance practice behinds. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Personally, my favorite part was Lee Know whining about how much English was in his verse, then Chan proceeding to use it to show I.N how to sing/pronounce the line. I also feel so bad for the female staff that was there with them, because every time Changbin shouted you can see her flinch. She deserves a raise. :-)

Yeah Han writes really quickly and forgets just as fast so Chan and Changbin take the lead more in the directing. They’re also quite detailed oriented and Han’s very “if it sounds cool we’re done let’s move on.” They’ve talked about the dynamic being more Chan/Changbin on one planet and Han on another. Though they’ve clearly figured out how to work around it instead of forcing it. Also 3racha record the demos and get them approved before they do group recordings so they already have the songs mapped out and have agreed on what they want going in. Their initial concept was also very much “get your group together, train yourselves, make your name, make your music and if you’re not doing good enough JYP can cut members and become more involved.” So even among musically involved groups in kpop they’re on a pretty extreme end. Also just an advantage of 3 producers. We talked about companies stepping in to facilitate relationships and talent predebut but their boss intentionally stepped out (as much as he reasonably could). That adds a whole new layer to Chan’s responsibility. It’s not rare either to see them practicing with no outside trainers, or Lee Know doing supplementary classes for select members and setting up practices for them. They obviously do have a lot of help, and they don’t try to hide it, but it’s still cool to see the level of self sufficiency that they’re capable of. It’s special to watch because it’s rare to have as much of this type of content as we do (mostly because it’s rare to do at all.) And even the non 3racha members are quite interested in music, and have a good amount of songwriting credits under their belt. Several of them didn’t really have a musical background or long trainee periods, so 3racha have probably had to develop an even broader range of ways to communicate their artistic vision while the other members were trying to figure out what works for them. 3racha have definitely helped them all grown into themselves as musicians and get enthused to help them explore further. The respect and excitement is fun to see. Lot of really strong musical bonds at their core And yeah their English understanding has probably been boosted by the fact that you can’t understand most of Felix and Chan’s conversations unless you’re bilingual😭 Also.. don’t you know that Changbin had to make things hard on himself by flipping between dancing and singing before he ended up rapping☠️😭He was going to make it into the industry somehow. So he can absolutely sing. ….And who doesn’t have a soft spot for Lino
