Ok, just one more comment, then I’m done. I think you really are right about how their realness and the casualness of their friendship appeals to people. They had a YouTube originals series that they all felt was a little too scripted, and lo and behold when it came out a lot of us didn’t like it because it felt like they were trying to force interactions.

I don’t know if you read comments, but I just wanted to share a fan perspective; I’ve been watching them since 7th grade (13 y.o) and I’m now in college & 19, so it’s fun to see people get introduced to them ! :)

In regards to Simon being the meanest, they touched on it earlier but his wittiness also touches on being snarky to some people, to the point where he probably gets the most hate on a regular basis. He’s not outright mean, but classic “Slytherin” vibes.

LETS GO SIDEMEN REACTION. you’ll find that tobi and josh,, and simon and jj are the closest duos out of the boys. simon and jj went to secondary school together and have known eachother since,, and tobi and josh have known eachother since they were really young too. harry is very close with both vik and ethan,, and they’re all super close in general. you should react to a video where they’re split into teams,, i really recommend the “handcuffed for 24 hours” or “sidemen become parents for 24 hours” as you really get to see them in smaller groups and therefore see their individual connections with eachother. plus,, they’re both super entertaining videos! :)

JJ & Simon + Josh & Tobi have known each other since school, so those are usually the 2 pairs people make in the group when it comes to closeness/best friends, but I think the group, especially nowadays, is very close in general between everyone.

Taking the piss out of each other harshly in close friendship groups is fairly normal in the UK as well as guys being more physical affectionate with each other(you'll probably notice a similar behavior in certain one direction videos), so its not like the sidemens bond is unique however the situation that surrounds them and how they continued their friendship being in each others company on a regular bases and being this close in their type of situation definitely is :)

I would say they take shots at Vikk & JJ the most. They actually had a joke hashtag back in the day called #StopVikkAbuse. It’s not as prevalent anymore, but still it happens. I would say to get some smaller group interactions, they have lots of team-based videos. Any calorie challenge, race across _____, cheap vs. expensive, etc.

With Harry I do think his the better looking out of them and I personally like his nervousness and awkwardness as I relate to that, so I'm more interested in him if you asked me who I found attractive. I also like the look of Simon the second most and I think his level headiness and intelligence and he also seems the most "normal" to me. I tend to find guys attractive who I think I would get on with the most and so who feel similar to me.

Ethan and Harry definitely have a really close relationship, they are seen as a “duo” they hang out with each other outside of the sidemen group a lot, tobi and josh have been bestfriends since they were teens so they are also close, jj and Simon also met through school and used to live together so they are very close too. Also Vik and Harry do a lot together and have a close dynamic too

I took notes when watching, so here is a novel on some of your questions. 1. Josh is the leader of organization, time management, back end stuff. kind of the responsible guide in the group. 2. JJ, Harry and Ethan have the biggest personalities in my opinion. Like they can really shift the energy quickly. They all have this unique way of integrating so well with all 7 of them, its kind of heard to break them down individually. 3. JJ/Simon and Josh/Tobi have known each other since like year 7 I believe. Those 4 came into the group as pairs. JJ and Simon lived together for like 8 years, and Simon knows JJ VERY well. Ethan/Harry are super close and appear to hang out the most outside of sidemen and are besties. 5. JJ vik and Ethan recently did a podcast episode with a therapist that was SO interesting. Vik explained that he lacks empathy because he is so analytical and logical with his thinking that he struggles to connect with emotions in others/decision making. Ethan is the opposite and sometimes they bump heads because of it. Great podcast episode. 6. Tobi is the nicest. 7. SPOT ON WITH HARRY. LIKE ALL OF IT. 8. Ethan has struggled with is mental health and has a doc on his YouTube. He also has a cute gender reveal video that is super wholesome and a different kind of video. I could go on, but I will stop at that. Here is some individual content I recommend from them (and I prev messaged my fav sidemen Sunday's to you) . Loved watching this with you as usual Max :)

i tried to edit my comment but i don’t think it worked so i’ll add my edit here just in case: also i’m pretty sure in a behind the scenes of this video the staff revealed that they placed Vikk so high on the “who’s the meanest sidemen?” question just to see his reaction. Vikk is one of the nicer sidemen and i’d place him in the top 3 (maybe even 2nd) nicest if i were the one to rate them. of course, i don’t know them off camera like the crew though, so my opinion is purely based off of what we see in their videos and the small snippets we see of their daily lives.

yes Simon’a comment about Ethan is true, it’s a very personal subject but i know Ethan spoke about it in a bit more detail once. if you search about it you’ll likely get results, but if i recall correctly the clip might have been included on the “you’ll never look at ethan the same again” video that’s on YouTube. Ethan has gone through a lot, but like you said the fact that they can joke about it or comment about it is a testament to Ethan’s strength (and also to their friendship) that the boys can laugh about it together with him, even if it’s such a deep topic.
