My Cage "Classic" 02 15 - 16/2010

Ok, this one won't get many responses, but I've been asking everyone: What's a funny novel you can suggest? My 2 favorite comedic novels are "Confederacy of Dunces" and "Cath 22". Let me know. Thanks.

Doug Adams' two Dirk Gently novels are especially good. All of the nonsense of the Hitchhikeer novels, but with better plotting. Also, in the same vein as Dave Barry, i.e., more short stories than novel, are the books by Patrick McManus. My writing teacher in college used to use one of his stories (My First Deer, and Welcome to It) as an example. She was unable to keep from literally rolling on the floor (ok, on the desk) while reading it. Kurt Vonnegut can be pretty funny when he wants to be, Oh, and a fairly old SF book, Martians Go Home by Fredric Brown. Almost forgot. Even older than the Fred Brown novel are the Glencannon novels by Guy Gilpatrick. They're so old my father used to read them and introduced me to them. You can find them for sale on line, but as they get rarer they get more expensive.
