Sorry I'm late on these. Swamped at my day job.

Question of the day: Have you ever had a crisis of faith? How did you get through it?

Easy; I never had "faith" to begin with. Even as a kid I was a cynical wise-ass who didn't believe the stuff the teacher in Hebrew school insisted we take seriously. (I once read "a religion is just a cult that made good.") I guess you could call me an agnostic; I just can't believe in an omniscent, omnipresent, all-powerful entity, separate from us and the universe S/He created - but if it gets you through the night that's all that matters.

Someone once said "coincidences are the universe's way of talking to you."

I'm trained in math and physics; I don't need faith to know that we are part of a four-dimensional being called Life that exists, has existed and will exist. There is no time, only point-of-view, and that is eternal.

J.E. Melton

I haven't yet and I'm 76 years old. All of my life I have had faith in me and I believe that I'm at least 51% responsible for my life and more likely 99%. I'm very happy with how my life has turned out. Oh, and I believe that this is all there is, no after life, so I better make the best of it while I can.

Kenneth Glaldden

I don't believe in any organized religion. They seem to interpret things in their own way, and constantly asking for money. You can have your own thoughts and ideas. I would like to imagine that possibly we could see the people and animals that we loved. But we could also go to an eternal oblivion. Not very helpful, sorry.

James Noury

I am not a person of faith.

Overton Hallford

I have a strong belief in God. If he didn't exist, then that would mean a ton of things on earth and in the universe have all happened by pure chance and coincidence, and that's too much to believe. I have, however, not attended a church for a few years. I have a lot of friends in other walks of life. Whether they be another religion, not have any religion, are gay, trans, ect. that I've noticed many people in churches look down and hate upon simply for not following the same walk of life as them. I know not all churches and people in churches do that, but a large majority of them do. So while I am religious, I am religious without a church, and practice the simple things like loving one another.

Shawn Eaton

I've lapsed, but I'm starting to come back to the fold simply because I like the morals.

Stephen Gilberg

Fortunately I was never totally indoctrinated into any religion. As I grew older I realized that all those stories are just fantasies. I've seen how much damage and evil was done and is being committed in the name of religions. One doesn't need the "fear of God" to be a moral person.

Ryan Edgar

I was raised in a religious family, but not in an oppressive way. In my adolecense I felt that all the sermons I heard were mostly how the end of all things was near, and that things would only continue to get worse, and there wasn't really much we could do to stop, or even slow it. My rebellion was in the sense that I reasoned, if I could get around God existing, then humanity wasn't doomed to damnation, persecution etc etc. So I did my best to live within that philosophy. It didn't really solve anything, and, indeed the world continued, and continues, to get worse. But the thing that started me turning back, was that there were people I began to truly care about, and whom I realized that it would take more than my human intervention to help them.

Jon Benson

I finally got to where I just couldn't BS myself into believing in a magic invisible sky King anymore. Once I accepted that, there was a momentary sense of being alone in the universe, ultimately replaced by a sense of great relief and calm, and I'm much happier now!

Yer pal Mikey

well...it's not a funny thing; but It does seem I totally abandoned "church" and religion in general.
