Not gonna lie, depending on where I am mentally, if I’m ever given six months to live my bucket list is either traveling or robbing banks with a nerf gun.

Cecil’s comment about living your life with no concern for the future. This reminded me of the HIV epidemic - before the meds, people thought it was a death sentence, but then effective therapies were developed.

In the UK, Humanist UK is pushing for legislation legalizing medically assisted death. Reading one women writing about watching her mother die slowly while the "system" keeps her earthbound to prolong her life. Her mother said, "We treat our pets better than we treat people."

I had a cerebral aneurysm (that I didn’t know about) rupture 5 years ago and I just dropped suddenly with no idea anything happened. If I didn’t wake up/get successful surgery, it would have been a pleasant way to go. Highly recommended.

When I was a tween I got a random chance to fly a plane for like 30 seconds. A friend of my extended family was moving across the country and flying their little personal plane to get it there. They stopped in my town and took us up one at a time for a quick little fly around. It was awesome.

Hey Tom, getting your pilot's license and flying private planes is stupid expensive, but you know what isn't? Paragliding! Come join us in the world of fabric aircraft! It kicks ass! They're so quiet, birds will fly next to you, you can fly for hours, and it's as close as you can get to living out a flying dream. And training and getting gear from one of the best schools in the world (Eagle Paragliding in Santa Barbara) only cost me like $8000 total. It's the least expensive personal aircraft and it fits in a backpack, it's fucking glorious!

My grandmother died when her great grandson (my nephew, who was named after her late husband) was thirteen and she left birthday cards for him until his forty-second birthday. He loves it.
Probably depends on the personality of the child and the family dynamic (whether it’s a good idea or not).
