It's the right's version of participation awards (I think acknowledging effort is important, but our society elevates winners, if you're not a winner, you're branded a loser). Privilege is about having an advantage that others do not. We want equality, but privilege makes some of us "more equal" (to borrow from George Orwell). Leveling the playing field nullifies being "more equal," which is framed as "unequal." Being realistic, how many people want to compete against 1,000 people for a job or University entry slot when privilege will knock 95% of those candidates out? Just look at the attack on Affirmative Action (which ironically benefits white women - hence white men - over everyone else). If 5% of slots have to go to women/minorities, that means the bottom 5% of white men will have to up their game. They don't want to do that; life is about conservation of energy (too many people want to live the Wall-E lifestyle). Instead, it's easier to bitch and fearmonger. It's the same with interacting with women. Too many men don't want to put the effort in, so the messaging that they deserve women is appealing to immature minds. Combine that with christianity's reductionism of women. A Woman's prime value is her vagina. It's a commodity. If she has premarital sex, she's chewed gum, worthless. Her vagina is for giving birth and men's pleasure. Next down is her caregiver skills. That's it. Christianity does not value women's ability to think, she is to remain silent and take instruction from her husband at home. Hell, Eve's eyes weren't open when she ate the forbidden fruit. When Adam did, then both their eyes were opened. Understand the implications, women can't understand anything until men do.
