My Cage "Classic" 09/07/2008

Stick figures always remind me of the old Cynical Man mini-comics. You guys have any minimalist strips you enjoy?

"Sawdust" and "The Invisible Tribe" were two ficticious comic strips that Chester Gould wrote into the Dick Tracy comic strip, supposedly spoofing some of the minimalist strips of the 50's and 60's. The Sawdust strip was introduced in "The Gravys", a strip that Gould created in the late 50's. It ran exclusively in the Chicago Tribune. It was much lighter and more amusing than the Tracy strip, and there was some crossover between the two. Samples of The Gravys, with embedded Sawdust strips, and some regular Tracy strips can be found at: https://www.tcj.com/a-tricky-cad-the-gravies-sawdust-and-chester-gould/ As I was looking this stuff up, and thinking about the fact that so many older strips have been taken over by younger artists, or guest artists, it occured to me to wonder, Ed and Melissa, if it ever comes to handing off My Cage to other artists, do you guys have any preferences as to who you'd like to see do it?
